Trump will use these events and therefore the athletes in them as propaganda tools similar to Berlin in 1936 and more recently 2014 in Sochi. Remember that Putin invaded and annexed Crimea just weeks after the 2014 Olympics, leveraging the normalization and goodwill of the event.
