Das war in meiner Familie und im Freundes- und Bekanntenkreis natürlich auch absolut unsagbar alles. Ich sprach vom Schulhof einer Grundschule, und da wurde das heiß gehandelt.

Es macht mir zugleich aber auch immer wieder Hoffnung zu wissen, das nicht alle Kids die heute dummies Zeug reden, schlechte Witze machen oder einfach unsensibel sind, verloren sind. Mein moralischer Kompass war wenige Jahre später ab ca der 6. Klasse stabil und das bis heute.

kenne ich noch Leute von damals, die bis heute nicht verstanden haben was daran das Problem war und auch Protagonisten von damals wie z.B. Mundstuhl, die nicht einen Witz gemacht haben der nicht auf irgendwessen Kosten gingen, sind ja bis heute noch am Start. Natürlich in der passenden Gesellschaft.

Kann ich nur unterschreiben — meine Kindheit in den 80ern war gefüllt mit Juden-, Türken-, Polen- und Biafrawitzen. Die folgten relativ direkt im Anschluss nachdem alle Häschen- und Fritzchenwitze auserzählt waren. Wenn ich heute darüber nachdenke macht es mich absolut fassungslos, gleichzeitig 1/2

Eye-opening and very important read — it would be so much better though if it was not full of advertisements for Germanys fascist party AfD: “We are growing, grow with us”. Seriously? This does not compute in my head, maybe double check your advertisement agreements? @timothysnyder.bsky.social

I can relate with similar experiences. I worked with ppl from a dozen countries over the last 9 years. For about half a year now we have a big south sudanese family in our local shelter — what a bunch of lovely and highly motivated people, constantly pushing their boundaries.
