Enh. It's fine. Not bad, not great. Apart from "Bitch," there's not a whole lot here to rave about. There isn't a ton of variety, and it definitely feels like a product of its time. That's not a bad thing - sometimes a throwback is exactly what you want.

All of a sudden, I'm 22 again.

Holy shit, this album is even better than I remember it. It holds up amazingly well. There's definitely some Alanis influence (this came out 2 years after Jagged Little Pill), but it absolutely has its own thing going on. So good. Also, this is giving me life today:

Still one song to go, but I doubt it'll sway me much. Tarzan Boy is a fun song, almost a novelty song, but the rest of the album is pretty forgettable. It's not that it isn't good, but that it sounds a lot like all the other synth-pop music from the mid-80s.

But, it was an *excellent* album. I made a conscious effort years ago to stop saying funny things are "hysterical." Makes no sense, both linguistically and etymologically. Forced myself to say "hilarious" instead, and now it's a habit.

Pretty good album. Very, very 80s. A few tracks were like, "Is this... the Bangles?" - mostly because of the vocals. Aimee Mann's bass is fantastic. The title track almost feels out of place, like it belongs on a less poppy record. Probably won't spend much time with it after today, though.

The original meaning of "woke," before it was twisted by the opposition, was simply empathy. It was shorthand for people who were awake - "woke" - to the ideas of fairness, equality, and empathy.

Every time someone says Hollywood is all liberals, I'm like... okay, the actors, in general, maybe? But the executives are running billion-dollar operations, and they run as far right as any other person running a billion-dollar operation.

I like to think he goes to Vegas every now and then to stock up on casino-used cards.

I mean, I'm glad his whole summer isn't ruined. Still, I can't help but wonder about the efficacy of Texas's version of summer school.

The trailers haven’t told us the name of the film. You’re not gonna pull a Thunderbolts on us and reveal it’s actually called “New Justice Gang” are you?

My Samsung fridge - which wasn’t cheap - has a faulty ice maker less than 2 years after purchase. It constantly freezes over and we have to take a hair dryer to it. I later learned that oh yeah, it’s a known problem. People just have to deal with it.

What if you offer to spin them a yarn?

Is it weird that I like the 3-panel preview Bluesky shows just a hair better than the full strip?

BS. I live in a suburb of Houston, and there are literally, LITERALLY, tens of thousands of migrants walking up and down my street every morning. They're all singing songs in a weirdo language that's NOT ENGLISH and trying to eat the neighborhood cats. The immigrant invasion is totally real.

Correct. That was Superman's Pal, Perry White.

Tori Amos has covered dozens and dozens of songs over the years, and that was one of them. Stripping it down gives it a whole new vibe.

I'm a sucker for covers outside the original genres. This is a good one I came across recently. I don't know about "second best," but it's quite good.

The guys in the booth tonight verified that Marcelo got that ball back and that he's going to give it to his dad. That's great!

I don't know... I mean... we could skip leg day at the gym, right? Sit on the bowl, get swol? Isn't that how the saying goes?

It’s only a matter of time before they kill a protester and I’m honestly terrified thinking about what comes after that.
comment in response to post
Looks like the crowd was trying to tell whoever got the ball to throw it back. Do we know if Marcelo will get the ball?

I had a character undergo a ritual stabbing, and I consulted my wife, a nurse, to determine exactly where on his upper body I could impale him with a big ol' spike lol Turns out there's a pretty good spot that'll miss all the important stuff.

I’m animated in the Hanna-Barbera Super Friends style, no question.
