“New Mexico is an outlier at this point,” When it comes to state- level housing work. www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_n...

Let’s go! “They will work to fix outdated zoning and other regulatory barriers, simplify permitting and inspection processes, and lower construction costs by growing our construction and trades workforces and supporting innovative modern technologies.” #nmpol

And now- a word from our sponsor www.santafenewmexican.com/opinion/my_v...

Thanks to Western Governors Association for highlighting our push to create a New Mexico Office of Housing Planning and Production to tackle our housing shortage westgov.org/news/article...

Statewide ADU legalization and multi-family by-right in transit zones dropped yesterday 👏https://www.nmlegis.gov/Legislation/Legislation?chamber=H&legType=B&legNo=554&year=25

Las Cruces passes “Realize” zoning reform update- first NM city to eliminate single-family zoning- a new gold standard for the state 👏👏👏

Some coverage of housing regulatory reform bills in the NM Legislature this year. www.abqjournal.com/news/article...

Great turnout for the Coalition to End Homelessness lobby day breakfast. Exciting to have so many advocates in the Roundhouse today.

working to change this byline!

Communities across New Mexico are asking for our help to address their housing and homelessness issues. Let's give them the support they need. www.kunm.org/local-news/2...

Our effort to create an office of housing got some coverage on KUNM this morning. www.kunm.org/local-news/2...

Massive pro-immigrant protest at the New Mexico Roundhouse.

Does anyone in congress have an actual plan here beyond a strongly worded fundraising email?

We have a bill- SB205! The New Mexico Office of Housing Planning and Production starts its journey through the NM Legislature. www.nmlegis.gov/Legislation/...

The New Mexico Office of Housing Planning and Production will tackle systemic barriers exacerbating our housing shortage in NM. sourcenm.com/2025/01/29/n...

Great overview of the unique challenges to new housing production created by our outdated housing regulatory frameworks from @pewtrusts.org. This is one of the main reasons we're seeking to create a state housing office to work on these issues. www.pewtrusts.org/en/research-...

@govmlg.bsky.social calls for over $100m in new housing and homelessness investments and the creation of a state office of housing to tackle obstacles to new housing construction

Removing excessive parking requirements is probably the single most effective state level policy tool to get more housing. In many places the space required for parking and egress takes up more land area than a modest sized housing unit.

WA’s bill to cap parking mandates would swap excessive pavement for more trees, senior living, daycares, and lower-cost housing. #WAleg #ParkinginWA @citizen-cate.bsky.social @jessdbateman.bsky.social

Thanks to @tinakotek.bsky.social for hosting @govmlg.bsky.social’s WGA BRAND West workshop in Bend, OR today. Great to see the real impacts of aggressive state level land use and zoning reform and state LIFT funding in action.

This campaign is so good & so important. Please support it!

Great supportive housing project being developed by the City of Las Cruces on their land.

Mesilla Valley Community of Hope has been assisting unhoused neighbors in #LasCruces for over 30 years, and I am excited to help make their latest project a reality. #AffordableHousing #NewMexico www.lascrucesbulletin.com/stories/gov-...

We’re not talking enough about how climate disasters will impact housing construction. Homes replaced in Palisades will be competing for the same labor and materials as new homes at best- at worst take the place of new homes built.

Excited to be heading to Las Cruces for the groundbreaking of the Amador Crossing supportive housing project! www.facebook.com/story.php

Housing folks! Join the Western Governor’s Association in Bend Oregon next week for the second BRAND West Housing Workshop as part of @govmlg.bsky.social’s chair initiative focused on the unique housing issues and solutions in the Western US. westgov.org/news/article...

Despite nearly 10% year-on-year increase in new homes nationally, NM is down 1.6% for the first 10 months of the year. We need to increase annual production significantly to close the 40k unit gap we now have statewide.

Important land use reform work in Abq!

“Musical Houses” from Utah’s Demand More Supply campaign youtu.be/PjEmkNfuVjg

Utah’s pro housing campaign is 🤌🏼 Great to see some concerted approaches to counter some of the worst misconceptions around new housing. Would love to see something like this happen in NM www.demandmoresupply.com

Some thoughts in honor of President Jimmy Carter: everyone deserves a safe & healthy home. Private, public, & non-profit orgs all have important roles in providing more homes. If your local zoning or community engagement blocks Habitat for Humanity projects, maybe you’ve lost the big picture.

“A reform effort to end the 2nd-staircase requirement has shown a light on the need to improve the building code adoption process more broadly…policymakers are asking tough questions about whether their building codes based on the ICC model are compatible with their housing affordability objectives”

In 30+ years of car ownership no bumper sticker has gotten my truck keyed as much as this one 🤣
