Proud of my brilliant colleague and friend

In the NYT right now, from a Justice Dept lawyer: “I will tell you right now that Columbia has not in my opinion — and the opinion of the Department of Justice — has not cleaned up their act,” Mr. Terrell said. “They’re not even close, not even close to having those funds unfrozen.”

"acceding to the ... demands is not going to restore the funding." From @danifriedrich.bsky.social in @chronicle.com www.chronicle.com/article/faci...

It’s an extrajudicial killing of a university. And it’s a self-inflicted mortal wound. Both.

We are fucked. Columbia caved to fascist demands. How do they think this will satisfy them and the money will be returned? This will lead to radical change in the nature of the university and, I hope, to mass resistance. [The views are mine and not my institution's, but they fucking should] #edusky

A statement by Teachers College faculty. Please share widely " docs.google.com/document/d/1...

And just so we're clear, in Argentina it's not that a few generals fooled 30 million. There wouldn't have been a dictatorship without the support of a large portion of the public, and another large portion who didn't care enough to oppose it.

Seeing this video is impossible not to think of the Disappeared in Argentina. Agents in plainclothes, taking a man into an unmarked car, without a warrant or anything. It's terrifying.

New book w @joco513.bsky.social is out! Really proud of this work. We took TV eps about school and paired them with articles from Curr Studies from that same year, 1979-2020. We put theory to work, aimed mostly at students being introduced to the field brill.com/display/titl... Discount code: 72535

Can't recommend this highly enough. In my view, the best live action Superman ever. Yeah, including the classics.

My 8yo is in DC with my wife. She left her backpack (w 🧸!) in the metro. Someone found it, found her public library card, contacted NYPL, left his contact, and they reached out to me to get the bag. AMAZING! All the love, once again, to #NYPL

Has anyone else gotten a desk rejection that took several months form one of the biggest journals in our field? I found out I'm not the only one and trying to see how systemic this is with this one journal. If it's happened to you, pm me. #EduSky

Does every single office and every administrator have to send their own Happy Holidays email? Can't they just send one on behalf of the university? Nevermind, that would be efficient.

On behalf The Critical Social Educator (TCSE), we’re thrilled to share the first of two issues on "play and joy" guest edited by Drs. Tran Templeton @trantempleton.bsky.social & Harper Keenan @harperkeenan.bsky.social, along w/ Nicole Fox & Akiea "Ki" Gross. www.tcsejournal.com/issues

Just got a paper rejected after an internal review that took them 5 months. So disrespectful to take this long to not even send it out for review.

It's so weird, I've never felt like this about a store closure in my life. It was my favorite place (not just eatery) in the area... Perhaps in the city #AbsoluteBagels #AbsoluteForever www.nytimes.com/2024/12/12/n...

The election was bad... But this is absolutely unacceptable. IYKYK

Ok, Connections, you crossed a line today. WTF? Drawings, really?

I've said this before, but we have too many pop culture stories that are "All the experts told me it couldn't be done, but I believed in myself and proved them all wrong." We need more "I believed in myself, but they are experts for a reason and I was a dumbass."

Today we say goodbye to my favorite live-action Superman #SupermanAndLois And yes, I did grow up with Christopher Reeve and love him, but this one kept adding more and more layers. An evolution that loved what came before.

Just turned in our kid's high school app. Those of you with kids in NYC will understand why this feels like a grant app. Those of you not here, you have no idea.

I'm surprised I'm not seeing more people talking about how amazing Shrinking is. Anyone here enjoying it?

Looking forward to dig into the newly published "Bangalore Girls: Witnessing the Rise of Nationalism in a Progressive City," by the always amazing Supriya Baily. #Cies #CriticalEducators rowman.com/ISBN/9781538198018/Bangalore-Girls-Witnessing-the-Rise-of-Nationalism-in-a-Progressive-City

“Through a critique of the affective workings of learning, the authors consider how these discourses can prove counterproductive for the work of teaching for social justice.” #EduSky www.routledge.com/Affect-Learn...

For me, @tomtaylormade.bsky.social is the definitive writer of friendship in comics. I'm really curious how he'll write Batman, a character with a family, but not defined by friendship. Really enjoyed his first issue of Detective!

Changing topics: I think we're in a Wonder Woman golden age. What @tomking.bsky.social and @sampereart.bsky.social are doing in the main line, and what @kellythompson.bsky.social and @cleanlined.bsky.social just started with Absolute is such amazing work. I don't remember being this invested

Been thinking a lot about Bernie's indictment of the Dems. I used to believe he was right: if only the party would move to the left, if only they'd do what I want them to. I'm not sure I believe that anymore. I want to, but maybe it's wishful thinking. Maybe this country is truly, deeply fucked.

Anyone else notice what a difference it makes not to see ads?

I guess I'm trying this one now, while still wondering why do this at all.
