this is also distinct from people who just straight up make pre-established characters *into* ocs. like they're completely recognizeable as the characters in the thing they're from, and the artist hasn't divorced them from the source material.

multiple, this is a pretty chronic issue in fandom where people sort of overwrite transfeminine characters existing and refuse to acknowledge them.
this was prompted by tsubaki from windbreaker, though, who people seem to really struggle with acknowledging is very clearly a trans woman.
