I put the hammock up, the beanbag out and uncovered the lounge set. Then went to the gym. Hope Mrs K saw the rain.

I suspected you’d moved to something else. SketchUp really messed up when Google set them free.

There’s a few artists I know of (I think @mckelvie.bsky.social did this) that build locations in SketchUp or similar so they use them as reference when working out scenes.

Crowdfunding for specific projects. E.g. to cover costs from not touring while recording albums
Patreon to provide ongoing support.
Specific side products: handwritten lyrics, posters, artworks etc.
And forming and keeping a really strong community behind them
And touring. Lots of touring

A few bands that I follow have managed to carve something out.
@wearepetneeds.bsky.social in particular have used various models.
Push for physical album sales with multiple formats, designs, etc. (as much about getting chart position and exposure as anything else)

On the flip side we were in Berlin last week and the local Lidl didn’t have self checkout. I forgot how much I hate standing in checkout queues

First job out of Uni working in a chain camping store. 5 weeks into the job I’m showing a customer a rucksack. I’m putting it away, stuff it with the plastic we have, and tighten the buckles. Something in my hand goes “pop”. An eight hour shift then a visit to A&E I’ve broken a bone in my hand.

Thought I’d finished the Indomitus Space Marines but discovered a unit of Assault Intercessors. Bought the box because I wanted to get a handle on Necrons. Never did.

I have literally just spent the morning putting the final decals on the last Space Marine models from Leviathan _and_ Indomitus. Most of the Tyranids need painting but those are the boys’. Need to check how far through the Necrons I got.

I loved the ending of Strontium Dog, and felt aggrieved when they brought it back despite it. Probably helped that Final Solution was my first Strontium Dog series (might have read some best of s)

Dad took me and my cousin to see Dire Straits at the NEC from near Oxford. He didn’t have a ticket so planned to go watch a movie. The cinema was shut and he came back and Security let him in.

Reading set texts, in a set time is a challenge.
We still read together most nights. (Looking forward to the next Loki btw).
And the less said the better about the teacher who wrote off One Piece as a “comic” when giving a detention for reading in class (OK he should have been doing schoolwork)

One of my proudest moments as a father is that our dyslexic 11yo love to read. And has just completed all 108 volumes of One Piece in the last year.
Lowest point was when he lent Frostheart to a friend at school. He’d taken half a term to read it. It came back read in a week.

Regened strips ran in the weekly first, the. Quarterly regened issues, before being parcelled up. I tbh k the partial failed because when they were more than one issue stories there was a 3 month gap between stories. Also sat a bit strangely with the more adult tone of the other strips.

My oldest friends are probably from Usenet, but there’s. Good chunk from forums as well.
I feel like I always found the board just after the core groups had formed. It’s the same with a couple of band Facebook groups I’ve recently joined.

Ended up drinking with John Wagner in a pub in Oxford where he told us of the story that would eventually become Rok Of The Reds. Other memories than that were washed away by the beer
