Concert dog! Taken Bartók to work with me in Aberdeenshire #dogsofbluesky

This Gramaphone review makes the researcher part of me smile. Delighted the superb @york.ac.uk Erard is getting some appreciation. www.gramophone.co.uk/reviews/revi...

Bartók!!!! ##dogsofbluesky

Getting the train in the UK has been a very expensive form of self-harm for a long time, but with the addition of the nation now being palpably more unwell today's trip is feeling more like the Cassandra Crossing!

…in which I revive some happy memories. Enjoyed talking to @hwfmorris.bsky.social for this. V much hope my off the cuff BF comment is understood in context of deepest respect for his music but also getting at the q of difficulty of trad creative editorial input into advanced contemporary music.

@emilyinyorkshire.bsky.social and I are struggling to have mature conversations about musicology this morning

Beauty outside #YorkMinster

Looking forward to talking about #adolphvonhenselt and his importance in the ptpgress of 19C music at the Basel Academy of Music

In Ireland, businesses have embraced and embedded diversity polices, not just as an act of compliance, but because it has been established that they lead to better decisions and innovation, writes Petula Martyn

Being dyslexic is fun. I could've sworn it said road closure kermits! BBC News - Road closure permits hit record high in Kent www.bbc.com/news/article...

Thank you to #TheArchers supporters who donated to our charity after hearing Barry discuss your work (yes, our CEO is also Ed Grundy 😉). www.openupmusic.org/donate ❤️

Learning a very perky piece of total (Eduard) Schütt. I'll be playing quite a lot of this wonderful composer this year #pianistsofbluesky #musiciansofbluesky

I am absolutely delighted to announce the release of my latest CD, and my first on the aptly named Danacord label! I recorded on the wonderful #erardpiano in the Lyons Concert Hall @york.ac.uk - Bartók particularly likes the inside cover... www.danacordbutik.dk/product_info...

As a dog person I can't say I'll be sorry to see the back of this winter, but we do try to make the best of it! #dogsofbluesky

A fairly old article that feels quite relevent www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Morning listen. Glorious performance tidal.com/track/396344...

What an upsetting read. Im not sure what it is, but it certainly isn't justice. I was jailed for four years for a non-violent climate protest – this is my prison diary www.theguardian.com/environment/...

A local farmshop was selling lion's mane mushrooms which I've never eaten. Terribly expensive but I do taste what the fuss is about. Almost like really rare fillet steak

Bartók's hunt training. I can't pretend I'm amazing at it, but a working dog is a happy dog. He's now in a bliss coma on the sofa. He's a brainy little unit #dogsofbluesky

I was at this concert in 1992 and it was one I shall never forget. I find this as jawdroppingly wonderful today as I did as a spotty youth. This was the encore after they had just given an incandescent Tchaikovsky Manfred youtu.be/Qz4DqUI8E0Q?...

Overdose of cute with my morning tea - Bartók has never been a morning vizsla #dogsofbluesky

I am working on a transcription by Adolph von Henselt of a song by the talented amateur cellist Count M. Wielhorski's setting of a text by Ivan Petrovich Myatlev -Бывало, бывало! "How the heart dreamed, How the heart suffered, How it sank And how it came to life. It used to be, it used to be!"

Today Bartók met a couple of pals. I could watch dogs play for hours.... which is just as well!

A bit of fun and games with @emilyinyorkshire.bsky.social recording Weber (the composer, not the barbecue) at @uoyevents.bsky.social Lyons Concert Hall where we will perform in April yorkconcerts.co.uk/whats-on/202...

🥰🥰🥰🥰

I spent the last 3 days closeted with @danpianoman.bsky.social in the wonderful acoustic of York Uni’s Lyons Concert Hall with only a mic and some dead Germans for company. Here’s the trusty pairing of my 1875 Ottensteiner copy and the 1856 Erard in our very last take, Schubert arr. Carl Baermann..

Sounds like a plan

I'm away from home. Bartók obviously misses me. A lot #dogsofbluesky

This goes some way to explain why I closed bookface and came here. I'm still working out how it is put together, but I think I like it RTE news : Will Ireland end up in tech crossfire between EU, Trump? www.rte.ie/news/2025/01...

I'm very happy this is available. I recorded on the exquisite Erard piano at @uoylibrary.bsky.social in the Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall. It reflects some of the research I've done alongside @emilyinyorkshire.bsky.social tidal.com/album/411390...
