I really hope we get a third legacy sequel, the world building in Frozen Empire made me eager to see more. There are so many more stories that could be told. Maybe pull from the Real Ghostbusters again for more inspiration?
comment in response to post
Frozen Empire just felt like it was missing a few more ingredients while it could have done without the firemaster subplot. I would have liked to see the Ghostbusters do a bit more and the villain do more as well.

An enjoyable movie but that ending is very questionable. 3/5

This movie needed more time to bake. The supporting cast (aside from returning cast members) were all half baked, the ending twist is a mess, and the editing is atrocious. A popular fan theory can only carry this movie so far. Scream 3 still gets a 2/5.

Scream 3 is still a mess but an enjoyable mess if you can convince yourself there still is a second killer. Maybe in Scream 7 they'll reveal that is indeed true. However if we are to believe there is only one killer, then yea this movie does not work.

I love the Jurassic Park franchise what can I say? I think all of the Jurassic Park sequels have more positives than negatives. Are they on the same level as the first film? Not even close, are they fun movies though? Your damn right they are. I enjoy the hell out of them.

Now watching It's What's Inside (2024) A random pick for tonight.. so let's see what this is all about.

If Spider-Man and the next two Avengers movies don't do well, that's probably it for Marvel unfortunately.

Cons continued This movie is very problematic on so many levels. In terms of technical stuff and surface level things it probably deserves a 3 but I think I'm more than okay with giving this movie a 2/5.

Alright I finally finished this one. Pros Mostly well put together in terms of cinematography, editing, and pacing. Well acted.. most of the time. The twist is twisty. Cons I don't think this director/writer likes women very much. It's a very male take on what he thinks women are like.

Heart Eyes is a fun enough horror comedy, with likeable leads and a fun twist. It has some pacing issues and some characters are just kind of there, but overall I had fun with this movie. 3/5

It's a new movie night apparently. Next up Strange Darling (2023)

THE LEGACY SEQUELS DON'T DESERVE TO BE MENTIONED WITH THE CLASSIC 78 ORIGINAL. STUPID FREAKING AUTOCORRECT. Makes ranting unbelievably difficult to do far too often. Just let me complain without f**king up what I'm trying to say! Jeez......

Alright I'm done complaining for the hundredth time about those absolutely awful "Halloween Sequels". Cheers and what not.
comment in response to post
..with the original film. They have more in common with Rob Zombies versions of Halloween than John Carpenter's and Debra Hill's version. Which would have been fine if they were legacy sequels to Rob Zombies versions. They are not however, and that's one of many issues I have with them.

I'm eagerly anticipating my rewatch of Halloween II. While not a perfect sequel, it's still in my opinion the best sequel to the 78 classic, and will probably be the only good sequel to it. Every other sequel is just a no from me.

This movie is a masterpiece so much so that everything after it (except arguably Halloween 2 and 3) pale in comparison. They all just lack the creative passion that is all over the 1978 classic.
comment in response to post
Every time I watch Halloween I'm reminded of just how excellent it is. The atmosphere, the score, the tight pacing and writing, it's just a masterclass of horror filmmaking.

I've watched 3 episodes of this new season so far and what I can say is it's fine. I don't know what it is exactly but it just feels like something is missing. I have had this feeling since the Peter Capaldi era. I'll get back to this show once I can afford Disney plus again.

The Pitt is one of the greatest medical dramas I've seen so far. The characters are complex and interesting, the writing is top notch, a fantastic much more realistic take on medical drama. Absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. I can't wait to see what all the creatives have in store for S2.

The first episode of the new Doctor Who season was fine. Nothing special but serviceable.

I'm also currently working through the first season of The X Files. I don't know how many seasons I'll get through this year, but I'll update accordingly with my thoughts on the season I finished.

Pretty darn mediocre.

Three episodes in and this is easily the best Medical drama I've seen yet. I can't wait to watch more.

The last three episodes of season 1 especially help propel this season to greatness. Season 1 gets a 4/5.

If Season 2 is finally free from the messy leftovers and goes on the direction I think it's going, we are in for a truly fantastic piece of entertainment. Though Born Again has its issues mostly due to the folks working on it trying to fix it, I still think it succeeded well enough.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 (2025) Though not as strong as the three seasons before it, Born Again still manages to be a great sequel despite all the behind the scenes drama. A strong character driven show that gets better as it goes on. The S1 finale was fantastic and perfectly sets up S2.

The Big Lebowski is a great wacky comedy where the ultimate lesson is there really isn't one. It can get a bit obnoxious and full of itself at times, but overall still a great movie that could have used some tighter editing. 4/5

Time to start the second season of Ncuti Gatwa's Doctor Who run.

Doctor Who Joy to the World (2024) Just finished this special (way overdue) and it was fine. The first 20 minutes or so has the biggest highlights. The ending is overly sappy even for Doctor Who and honestly rather boring.

Okay pros first. Decent enough acting. Pacing isn't awful Plenty of good ideas Now the cons. Pretty much Goosebumps in name only. Little to no scares None of the drama works If you think about everything for more than a second, nothing makes sense. Not completely awful but definitely not good.
