I am once again begging you to understand that a man can be good at art AND a monster. Pretending once the truth comes out that the art was never actually that good only shelters the next monster.

Bless you, kind souls who left these helpful comments on a recent capitalist puff piece from Popverse about Neil Gaiman:

“The latest statistics turn our concept of autism on its head. Gone are the days where an autistic person would be thought of as an unlovable weirdo – this data encourages us to think of them as more of a sort of Austin Powers figure.” thedailytism.com/rising-autis...

An autistic woman has identified a foolproof way of obscuring her romantic feelings – by ensuring every encounter is as sufficiently uncanny as the last one. thedailytism.com/autistic-wom...

I’ve had migraines for decades. My GP saw this note on my long COVID clinic assessment, and asked if I’d ever tried Sumatripan. Just had my first tablet when I had signs of a migraine this morning. Holy fuck, game changer. I’d usually be in pain for days. I started to feel better in 40 mins.

I really wish Google would let me opt out of their AI answers. Every so often I give it the benefit of the doubt, when it looks like it’s just wholesale lifted the response from the top answer. It is NEVER right. It’s editorialised that search result and removed accreditation.

Billionaires: we need to steal art so we can get richer UK government: entirely reasonable Regular people: we need to own our art so we don't starve UK government: reactivate the Tower of London

How long until the name 'Cass Report' becomes synonymous with 'Andrew Wakefield', I wonder

Huh. I didn’t have “pigeon murder over the last week” on my list for therapy today but we somehow ended up there anyway with mutual anecdotes… (Neither of us directly murdered a pigeon… to my knowledge)

um

Huh… we ARE all on an FBI watchlist.

The internet is doing the most internet thing possible.

I find it genuinely concerning, the way that so many men will act if given a modicum of power in their life and career. That means that for however many active volcanos we actually see, there are so many thousands or millions more lying dormant. It's horrific to think about.

Threads has been trying SO hard to get my attention this last week or so - notifications of random posts, constant Insta links, and even emails to tell me what I’m “missing”. Have they thought of making a better app and showing me the content that I want?

BIG chat with the therapist today. She has a lot of experience in liaising with other healthcare professionals, and has been a big help in my deciding what I want to to try to achieve in my health- mental and otherwise. Things are shit. But there are chemicals that can be prescribed to help.

its always 'get people working'. it's never - make childcare affordable - run better transport so people can get to jobs - raise attainment for people of all backgrounds - improve healthcare for long term sick - make workplaces accessible - champion flexible working So it never works.

the reason this guy runs the internet is basically nobody else is even capable of doing "your shoes were so fugly I called the FBI" and have it be a factual statement

I am not in a great mental state right now. This will be apparent in most of my interactions… but I’m aware it’s not great timing for a lot of people joining this site and recognising my username and going “should I follow her?”. I wish I could promise better times. Right now you can have rants.

Getting really irritated at the property management company for my flat consistently sending out addendums asking for more money a few weeks after their semi-annual invoicing. DO THE WORK A MONTH EARLIER. … I may have just them sent a note to this effect.

HEY, Kier. Solved it for you. “Past the inheritance tax threshold on your farm? Prove you: 1. Do not lease the land out 2. Have had your main income from farming for the last 5 years. Congratulations, you can have an exemption“ This information should be readily available to HMRC already.

My brain continues to adjust to the absence of SNRIs… I am no longer crying over *everything*, but there was a minor breakdown over a crochet pattern that I could NOT get right. I counted EVERYTHING. It made no sense. … eventually I found the author’s website. And their errata page.

If there had been any room remaining to doubt that we are in the worst timeline…

I’m super not-entirely-braining-well right now. There is a lot of emotion involved in this, but also the autism is enjoying its time in the spotlight. I know because I’m yelling a lot at ads that claim their products have “up to 100%” efficacy. THAT’S LITERALLY MEANINGLESS. WHY EVEN BOTHER?

Why you should not trust LLMs as information search tools: an example ganked from mastodon. (Text in alt.)

Behold the giant sparkling balls of Laughięnda Manchester (in the interval before @robbotron.bsky.social went on stage on Thursday) Very dangly. Very lack of demure.
