I admit that I’m saddened and disgusted that people with a huge platform aren’t sounding the alarm and speaking out more. Whether they are billionaires or celebrities. I’m also from Canada, so I don’t know US tax laws. Fully agreee that the wealthiest need to pay (a lot) more taxes.

Cameron, he has a net worth of 5.7 billion. There are probably 3 billion hungry people. $2 per person won’t solve world hunger. I’m curious, how much have you given to help someone in need?

Higher standards of living equal less hunger. It’s not a quick fix, but a sustainable one. I’ve also heard that the world can sustain a population of around 9 billion people. Food production and without destroying the environment. Investment into education in developing countries would help.

A lot of snarky comment. I don’t know you Mark but it seems you have a stronger moral compass than a lot of people, rich or poor. I read once that the key to ending world hunger is education. Educated people and countries tend to have smaller familes. Educated counties have higher standard of living

Canada has one of the best and strongest environmental records on earth. Sustainable and responsible mining are needed. I’m not advocating for environmental destruction. Ever. Canada is in an existential crisis right now and we need to become more self sufficient. We are too dependent on the US.

I should have said, “MAGA American’s”. There are so many amazing, kind American’s.

Thanks for speaking out Charlie. Trump is either insane or has lost his mind!

I don’t know you, you don’t know me, that much is clear. You live in a beautiful part of Canada (I’ve spent time on SSI and Pender Island). That’s expensive real estate there. You do realize that most Canadians can’t afford your moral high ground? Please stow your criticism on your weekend sailboat.

Good evening, Michelle. It’s not a tired or useless argument. You, like many others, love to stand on your affluent, privileged stool and criticize hard working Canadians who work in the resource sector to provide for their families, and for 2/3 or Canada who depend on the transfer payments.

So sad. He will be remembered by good humans, along side Martin Luther King.

I don’t want to argue with you. We are more aligned than you realize. Let me say this though. We (you and I) can afford to stand on the high moral (critical) ground. Most Canadians can’t. Most are barely getting by. A shame because we are a wealthy nation but that’s a discussion for another day.

Well, Alan, good on you. You are definitely an anomaly and I applaud you. Seriously. I don’t disagree with you. More investment in transit etc. is needed. Unfortunately, the only provinces that have any excess cash (BC, AB, SK), have it because of resource extraction.

In the world, in responsible extraction of resources. Drives me crazy that some BC people rail against natural gas when it is one of the cleanest burning and least carbon intensive fuels on the planet. You do know that electricity and lithium have an impact as well right?

Please be honest. Virtually everything in your home exists because of hydrocarbon energy. Everything. Seriously. Yes, the world needs a better way and yes, intelligent, thoughtful people like you and I agree. But it will take time. In the meantime, Canada is one of the most responsible countries

Look, I own a hybrid vehicle. Love it. It’s the way of the future. But you and I are not the other half. Many are barely making ends meet. To impose our (your) moral high ground on people who will a) probably never own a home or b) take a vacation in Mexico, is hypocritical.

I was born in BC. Lived there for half of my life. Beautiful province, beautiful people. In case you don’t know, thermal coal in BC is barely mined. It’s virtually all metallurgical coal. Steel making coal. So far, the world hasn’t come up with a reasonable way to make carbon steel without it.

Have you listened to his recent ramblings? He seriously suggests that Ukraine started the war? WTF, wake up. Pretty much every word DT utters is either a lie, or dillusional. The war is between Russia (aka a nuclear armed nation) and Ukraine, a sovereign nation that’s been leveled by a meglomaniac.

I swear, I thought the same thing today. Either he has advanced stage dementia, or he’s a Russian sleeper agent.

Thank god Eby has a bit of sense. Don’t get me wrong, I fully support protecting the environment but Canada has a resource based economy. Hopefully someday soon we will transition to more manufacturing but until then, we need to fund the social network we all love and appreciate.

I love Canada and now, more than ever we need to rally together and put aside our petty political differences and stand strong and proud. We are Canada, and damn proud of it.

For everyone who thinks Canada needs to kill all energy projects and resource projects like mining, please, be the first to park your cars, turn off your electricity and heat and then you have a non hypocritical platform from which to speak.

That comes by cutting all the bloody red tape that stalls every project. Canada is last or second last in the G20 in terms of productivity. Just think about that. The US is number one. How do we hope to compete in this world?

The thing I find mind blowing, is that Trump still has the support of 50% of the US population. How is that possible? I am Canadian and we are watching in horror as Trump and his henchmen dismantle American democracy.

Sadly, Mark Carny has an even more extreme green agenda than JT had. I am afraid that he will kill industry and the economy in Canada.

I know, it’s crazy. Where are they? And surely there must be some sane Republicans… Everyone is too afraid to cross Trump and suffer the consequences it seems.

I’m a Canadian. Trump’s incessant rambling about Canada becoming a US state is insulting, absurd, and illegal according to international law. It borders on a declaration of war against a sovereign country. The same should be said if he targeted Mexico or any sovereign country. FO Trump.

This isn’t about fair trade or drugs or immigrants - it’s about control through an economic power play by the American government. But Canada isn’t just going to sit back and watch.
