When you play “Sweet Dreams” on Spotify the little video loops so that the cow shows up when Annie Lennox sings “mooving on”. This visual pun confluence makes me happy

Woke up in the middle of the night so at least solved the NYT Spelling Bee… will save Queen Bee for later www.nytimes.com/badges/games...

Something funny about being advertised tickets for both Snow Patrol and Paw Patrol

I would say this is a serious matter but it is funny that Profar tested positive for Chronic Gonad atrophying

A couple of years back, I was approached by an MLB team to interview for what would be a newly created position to develop innovative new ideas for success on the field. One thing that struck me as I prepped for meetings with the GM & others is how so much of baseball is small-c conservative

Bill and Ted waiting for Godot sounds amazing

Have hit 104 books read this year! Should have a couple more done this weekend and then will reset my goals to something more ambitious

Mathematical concept that sounds most like a Pokémon attack: Monstrous Moonshine

Finished Peng Shepherd’s The Book of M and it was really interesting to see DC and NoVa in a novel without being about traditional politics or national security – even if it’s because DC is a post-apocalyptic landscape

Saturday #NYTXW. I love crosswords like this one – lots of fair gettable references and proper nouns. 8:44

Weird how much worse Google Search's AI Overview is compared to Google's own Gemini AI product, even for a purely factual question (which is the closest EPL stadium to the US)? Gemini gets it correct, while AI Overview repositions London on the western coast of England & gives a nonsense answer

I see for the 2500th Spelling Bee Sam added an S for the first time. Very <pangram>!

Just finished @pengshepherd.bsky.social’s The Cartographers and thought it was beautiful and brilliant. To take the Agloe story (beloved of map nerds like myself) and turn it to a thriller, a romance, and an exploration of what mapmaking really means… really loved it

In the car on the way back from daycare: Twin 1: Papa, play “Wait they don’t love you like I love you” Twin 2: You have to say “Maps”. That’s the name of the song! Twin 1: It’s okay! He knows what I mean! Am so happy that the kids have outgrown the Cocomelon phase

When there’re classic rom coms And the writer’s Ephron That’s A NORA

Over the last couple of months I’ve read an inordinate amount of fiction for (hopefully understandable) escapist reasons. Mostly summer beach novels (read all of Elin Hilderbrand for example) and murder mysteries. I’m up to 54 books for 2025 having just finished Peter Swanson’s Eight Perfect Murders

Well, at least the Yankees are no longer facists.

Showing that prices can increase in a Bear market

Going to be speaking today at 1pm Eastern at the Pennsylvania Lake Erie Environmental Forum about water use in data centers! Thanks to Pennsylvania Sea Grant, Penn State @pennstateuniv.bsky.social, and the PA DEP @pennsylvaniadep.bsky.social for the opportunity seagrant.psu.edu/events/pa-la...

Struck by this line in Bonnie Garmus’s “Lessons in Chemistry”, which I think captures my frustration with the way some people operate

Amazing finish to the final ever Goodison derby. What a game. Felt like Everton beat Liverpool 2-2

Adding injury to insult

my rural local news put up a post asking what people thought of the halftime show and this little old white lady commented “I didn’t get it but I’m old. I hope the young people had fun. I liked his pants and his jacket. 💕”

My hot take is I really liked the new scorebug after I saw how well it conveyed info to casual fans (i.e. the rest of my household). Extremely clear with no logos, names and numbers are huge, very easy to understand what’s going on in a game (especially when they add the down and distance indicator)

For the first time, I managed to play a word in Wordiply that contains DARYL 🅦🅞🅡🅓🄸🄿🄻🅈 #782 🌟 Length Score: 100% 💫 Rare long word found! 🚀 Letter Score: 71 🔗 Play Wordiply: www.wordiply.com 🎬 Today's starter: 🄱🄾🅄🄽
