And often it turns out that there's a reason why it's not more popular...

I'm in this picture and I don't like it.

When I was still in video games, people (who don't play games) usually reacted like "oh, cool, anything I know?" to which I asked what they know and the answer was always either Fortnite, call of duty or GTA.
It's like asking an actor if they have been in Titanic as that's the only movie you know.

I just love me some dice pool or step die systems. Either let me throw a ton of dice, or different dice for different skill level (or situational). Or better yet: both at the same time!

Right. Feels more genuine with that nice smile.

To be fair, SpaceX has had a lot of very talented and smart people working on incredible technology. But in recent years it seems the company had as much of a brain drain as the US in general. Nobody smart wants to work under him and the working conditions and deadlines seem to keep getting worse.

Absolutely! I love me some mission/adventure generation tables, if only for inspiration :)

They are really going with the times, heh?

For early playtests I use fari.app, because it's super fast to create sheets. Later on foundry with one of the generic systems is probably a good bet, but more complex.

Tom bombadill is the best! I remember young nerdy me reading the books in school, while my classmates only saw the first movie and I talked about loving Tom and was confused how nobody knew who I was talking about until I saw the movie myself. :(

they had the maintenance upgrade for a long time though (next to lifetime) and so far didn't go down the subscription route. Still, I understand the concern.
But yeah, I thought they still had the lifetime license, pity :(

Oh I see. From what I see they still allow you to stay on your last supported version forever, though, but yeah, it doesn't look like the lifetime version is still available :/

I've been using PDF X-Change for the last decade or so without issue. It's got everything one would need and is fast. I think I have a lifetime license or something, at least I don't remember ever having to buy an upgrade or so, it just keeps going.

Where can I find them? :)

True. My rpg is hard scifi, so yet again a more obscure subgenre over more star-warsy scifis like Traveller, Starfinder, etc. I guess Cyberpunk still hits a lot of the notes.
In any case: Thanks! Looking forward to seeing more scifi stock art in the future :)

We need a dub of this!

I agree, abstract art can work very well, especially in smaller books or zines :)

There are some great budget ANC earpods from Anker, that allow you to switch to a "transparent" mode that lets voices go through with a single touch on the ear. It's amazing when I am buying groceries for example: have them on noise cancelling until I hit the cashier. No need to take them off.

I just wish there was more stock art for scifi RPGs. There are maybe two artists and maybe 6 pieces I could use in total (which I already use). But it's great that fantasy RPGs have a lot of options!
Not going to use AI to fill the gap, but it increases the required art budget quite a lot.

That looks quite interesting :) good job for getting something out there. It's literally the hardest bit of this whole game making stuff.
(Says the guy who also doesn't have anything publicly released yet, so I absolutely know where you are coming from!)

Same for my slightly overcomplicated injury system. I know why I want it this way, but still. One filled and twenty empty tables is not great for playtests...
"No, sorry, you can't punch him, I've not written down the effects for blunt damage yet" :/

What's funny to me is that they still don't even teach how to use computers/internet properly and safely and they just skip this step and go straight to AI.
