I dragged my #autistic ass out of my apartment to stand in a very loud crowd of strangers outdoors. I MUST be pissed. Alt text: Demonstrator holding a sign that says: “It’s gotten so bad… that even the introverts, goths, teachers, witches, and your grandma are here.”

My best friend is a music librarian.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am this is the case. And again, I was in marching band. I know this statement to be true. The bad marching at that big, shitty birthday party was malicious compliance.

The reviews are in. www.indy100.com/politics/tru...

Aidan Barton, the actor who played baby Luke and Leia in REVENGE OF THE SITH, turned 21 years old this month. Barton, whose father was the editor of Episode III, is currently in his senior year at film school.

Melissa Hortman was more than just a Minnesota lawmaker. She was a kind and decent woman who trained service dogs for American veterans.

Back at Film Forum for the first time in ages to see the delightful Japanese character comedy SHALL WE DANCE. Membership renewed, shehechyanu said.

Thread.

Vulnerability & love win the war against hate every time. The police opened fire onto peaceful protests. They can say what they want on the news they want, & I urge everyone to be journaling. Keep hard copies of articles; we must preserve a historical record of the truth. It’s being mutilated.

Question: When are we going to call the white man who clearly plotted and schemed an act of violence, and shot two Minnesota law makers and their spouses out of political hatred a terrorist?

I promise y’all: marching in step is quite easy. Nothing difficult about it. That bad marching was intentional. I guarantee it.

#StarTrek #TNG

About 1.5% of the U.S. population protested today. (Closer to 1.9% if you only count the adult population.)

It isn’t lost on me that the suspect in the assassination of one of the most prominent women in Minnesota politics had a target list with abortion providers and advocates. Misogyny is deadly. My heart is with the victims, their families, and everyone affected.

The protests today were big. However, there is a zero percent chance there was a 1 million person Boston protest, and if you repeat this claim, you are an irresponsible and innumerate dunce. Even NYC or DC can’t post those numbers. 100k would be impressive but believable in BOS.

NYC! #NoKings

MSNBC is reporting 200,000 people on the streets in NYC for #NoKings, in the rain. Incredible.

Sorry I handed you the pepper grinder when you asked for the kaleidoscope.

Dude's wanted a military parade for himself for years and he finally makes it happen and turnout is worse than at a medium sized city's farmers market on a rainy day while like 2% of the entire country went out to protest his bullshit

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.

Strib reports that the @minnesotaorchestra.org will start tonight's concert with Elgar's 'Nimrod' in honor of the Hortman and Hoffman families tonight. Here's the clip from the last time the orchestra played the Enigma Variations: youtu.be/NjcY7yfeOto&...

Today, the far right went full masks-off and said, “Fuck it — We’re monarchist now!”

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

Magic Con vs Tragic Con

Not such a bad way to live- 🧪 If only this—lifelong learning, humility, boundless curiosity, mindfulness, creativity, experimentation, honesty, empathy, and hard work—were true of every human being.

I am devastated by the loss of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in a horrifying act of violence. Our prayers are with their children and all who loved them, and with State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were also targeted.

This is extra wild because basically every city/town in New England had their own rallies too.

Melissa Hortman and her husband have both been killed.

Hortman and her husband are dead, says Walz.

THE GOP KILLED MELISSA HORTMAN I repeat THE GOP KILLED MELISSA HORTMAN

lol this is honestly the shittiest marching it's so bad it almost feels like a form of protest I was in marching band in high school and this woulda got me an F

We’re honored to report that over 11 million showed up for today’s No Kings protest, and totals are still coming in. Just… wow. WOW 😮! There’s nothing more to say.

show-offs. (laudatory)

REALLY SORRY I slept virtually all day.

From Rabbi @marisaelana.bsky.social: May Iranians, who mostly hate their leaders, be safe. May Palestinians, who mostly hate their leaders, be safe. May Israelis, who mostly hate their leaders, be safe. May all the war-mongering authoritarians be deposed & may they [yet] experience real justice..

SHABBAT SHALOM!

Grateful to @truahrabbis.bsky.social for teaching this important classical midrash: "God created the first human being out of dust from the four corners of the earth [because], every place a person goes, a part of them is from there and a part of them is returning there.”

I’ve seen a lot of hand wringing about the dangers of going to No Kings protests and gently, I want to tell people to chill a little. These are permitted marches and the point is to be out there and seen en masse. Please don’t scare off people who are maybe going to their very first protest
