Climate change is weird. :/ #FreelanceFriends

That's the plan! The conference organizer already expressed some interest, so I'm hopeful. I'm also going to try to pitch a couple of stories so I can interview some of the panelists. #FreelanceFriends

I drive past both of those views as often as I can manage (not quite every day, but close!) #FreelanceFriends

I'm glad it's under control! I read a headline a couple of weeks ago describing them as "zombie fires" because they keep coming back. #FreelanceFriends

I think I might still need it! Or I've become so attached to it I can't stop. I think of it as untangling the mess of my thoughts, and imagine each thought as a knot in a very tangled skein of yarn. #FreelanceFriends

That is a really helpful image. Thanks for sharing it! #FreelanceFriends

Same. I've always thought there should be some level between acquaintance and friend. Like, someone you know fairly well but wouldn't call if you were in jail or broken down on the side of the road at 3am. #FreelanceFriends

A3: I guess my tip is to be open to new ideas and opportunities and directions. Things are changing, and we have to be able to adapt. #FreelanceFriends

Yes! It's probably more properly communications, but marketing tactics could definitely help. #FreelanceFriends

I should also say that I'm not good at making friends. (which is likely the problem!) #FreelanceFriends

We've had lots of smoke from those fires all the way down here in Tennessee. Makes for nice sunsets, but is scary/depressing. #FreelanceFriends

I went to a conference in Atlanta last week for utility professionals. It was about affordability. I didn't realize just how much marketing help they need! Of course that doesn't mean they'll pay me to do it 😆

What a difficult experience! I realized at one point that I've never really made a work friend. There were lots of folks I thought were friends, but none that stuck. I love not having the issue of wondering now if people are friends or not. #FreelanceFriends

Mostly it's some variation of "come on, you know what you need to do, now just DO IT." LOL. I hope realizing you're mostly the same you is more sweet than deflating. #FreelanceFriends

Could be. It does still sneak up on me sometimes. #FreelanceFriends

That is a risk! I hadn't even really thought about it. #FreelanceFriends

About a year ago, I re-read a bunch of journal entries, going back probably 5-10 years and came to the realization I've essentially been writing the same letter to myself every morning forever. It was sort of depressing, but also made me think maybe I need that letter. #FreelanceFriends

One of my favorite parts is talking to people who obviously love their work and are genuinely enthusiastic. It's one of the reasons I'm drawn to writing about healthcare and research. #FreelanceFriends

When I was first diagnosed with RA, I tried all sorts of things to deal with the fatigue. No single thing seemed to make a big difference, but either I've gotten used to it, or the combination of strategies worked. #FreelanceFriends

A2: I've certainly changed processes. I built my business through LOIs, but they aren't working (at all) anymore. Now I'm leaning into networking and pursuing in-person events. That's a huge change. I'm also participating in more small communities. #FreelanceFriends

It's so hard to manage energy. Like you, once it's gone, I'm done, and I've got acknowledge that scheduling out work. Sorry you're dealing with it and I hope you find something that helps you soon. #FreelanceFriends

Rocket is a great name. We had another girl, her name was BB (short for Beautiful Bertha). She, too, had an excess of energy. #FreelanceFriends

A1: I've been re-evaluating my business for almost 2 years now, as well as adding skills, exploring new markets, and trying different ways of marketing my business. So, yes, I'd say I've tried to be more elastic. (unsure about whether it's working or not) #FreelanceFriends

Jed is *terrified* of real baths, but TBF, Jed is terrified of most everything. The conference was really good! I met some people and learned quite a lot. #FreelanceFriends

Glad it helped! I took a walk and am doing just a little bit more work. (I'm going to a conference Thursday and so am losing a day this week)

I’m not sure about the wiser part, but it’s definitely getting weirder as I get older.

I was pretty good at being lost. And kinda liked it. Usually. Once I got lost on the way to a job interview and that sucked.

A3: in every way I can. For the writing group, we meet once a week so it’s a standing date kind of thing. That works really well. #FreelanceFriends

I’ve tried to volunteer at the library too but haven’t been able to (it’s weird), and attended some political things but haven’t found a way/group to join that’s a good fit. I’m looking for a get-out-the-vote type group. For now it’s mostly fun stuff #FreelanceFriends

A2: I’ve been joining lately — a kickball team last summer, an in person writing group (fiction and wonderful), and most recently, a neighborhood group. It’s been amazing how good these groups make me feel. #FreelanceFriends
