I think the story was about trying to escape your ancestor by going to a dock yard out in the ocean, where there was supposedly a way to permanently get rid of the ghost. So the level design started out urban then slowly became more industrial

When you flashed the ghost, she would disappear on the spot, giving you time to traverse or solve puzzles. but she would frequently mock you before coming out of the ground to start tailing you again. There was even a segment where you were locked in a room with her...
