“Midnight Special” is right!
South SM was funkier than north of Montana, where Miller was.
There’s a great skateboarding doc called “Dogtown & Z-Boys” about long gone SM. Alas

People raised in Santa Monica don’t know anything east of Westwood. Source: personal experience (way before Miller’s time, FWIW)

@DNC, thanks for confirming: you are clueless. No way any of my money is going to you for anything like this.

@jaketapper.bsky.social, Where's the follow-up!?! Isn't one of Johnson's jobs to, ya know, provide "checks and balances" on the executive? Why do you let him get by with claiming he just doesn't know about something?

The mockery is kind of infuriating to me. …as if the public bus systems are not in need of reinvention.
E.g., why do Maps apps tell me what transit’s available, rather than telling agencies what to do?

My understanding is that Turkey (possibly uniquely) has an existing ecosystem of drivers who personally own and operate these mid-sized shuttles.

1. She was asked this explicitly, early in her candidacy.
2. My point precisely is that she could’ve distanced herself from Biden without “running against” him.
Must be lonely being a thinking person.

Re: When asked what she would do differently, she didn’t have an answer. Obviously that wasn’t good enough, or we wouldn’t be stuck with Trunk again.

My theory is it was designed for the decision makers somehow, 'cause it's for sure a terrible end-user experience.

Left Slack off my list, 'cause in that case the platform is for sure the problem. ;-)

He claims Workday is great at Workday, so what, it's the implementation that makes it so bad everywhere else?
Is there a name for this, when everyone hates a capable platform due to poor implementation?
I've seen it w/ ServiceNow, Jira (or any PM really), and (OK) Workday.

Why didn’t Kamala distance herself from Biden by throwing his shortcomings on Trump? E.g.: ”I could do more, because I wouldn’t have to spend all my time cleaning up Trump’s mess the way J’Biden did!”

I'm afraid what's missing in this case, as in so many others, is the Democratic Party's leadership. They're so used to doing the bidding of big business that they (like you and I) are awaiting orders to take a stand.
What's needed is leadership and collective action, and those skills are atrophied.

The only fight Dems have in them is against progressives.
The hypocrisy is a function of prioritizing donors over voters.

Nice ratio you’ve got here, Mark. Happy to contribute.
What I look down on is their bigotry and, irony of ironies, their entitlement. “When you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”

I don’t understand why there isn’t more collective action. Why is Harvard standing alone on this, and hoping others follow, rather than actively circling the wagons.
…and where is the American Bar Association!?!
