What specifically could be impacted? Mortgage insurance availability to roughly 1/3 of potential homebuyers, determinations of Fair Market Rents and Area Median Incomes, the administration of supply-focused funding like HOME, CDBG PRO, Section 202, and Project Based Vouchers...the list goes on!

I also wonder if Joel has willingly ignored the growing body of literature on the positive price impacts of new supply, or if his omission of such evidence is a function of a cognitive dissonance stemming from his deep seated animus towards anything that's not a single family home.

While it's not a binding requirement (cities won't lose their CDBG money), it would be a pretty big acknowledgement from the federal government that implementing pro-housing policy should be a goal of local govts.

If you're not familiar with the YIMBY Act, here's a primer: the bill would require recipients of CDBG money to report to HUD on what they are doing to remove barriers to home building. The bill has 22 specific policies they must report on (e.g., allowing missing middle homes, reducing parking, etc)
