Yup! I fainted when I tried to do one of those tests. I also fainted when I had my last covid shot because the pharmacist giving it paused between the flu and covid for ~45 seconds, and that was enough for the reaction to really build up...

In this case the actually-useful thing the paraphrase did was add context around words that don’t make sense to modern readers. Almost-all the difficulty of reading that bit comes from “gas”, “husbandmen”, “ploughboys”, and “divers”…
