I wouldn't call him the greatest leader of his time, but it's a tragedy with what Russia, and now the United States, is doing to Ukraine.

Yep. Now we just need to refine them so we get out far more energy than we put in

We need a revolution in the Democrat party like the Republicans have had. Until we do that, the Democrat party is just going to flounder. The corporate Democrat regime needs to give away to modern progressive Democrats

Historically, Democrats rarely get control of everything. We keep thinking there's been this huge political and social shift to the left in the country, and there has been, but after 40 to 50 years of it, there's now conservative backlash growing. The pendulum is starting to get yanked.

It'll be very hard to undo anything they do because Republicans and Democrats no longer work together. So the only way to undo anything they do, would be to unilaterally gain control of the government, and that be extremely hard to do with the current socio-political climate.

He can't repeal it, but he can ask his administration to nicely ignore it though. He could easily tell the attorney general and the departments "don't prosecute this, or I'll just fire you and replace you"

But yeah that executive order is complete overreach, and this is one time that I hope Congress does a 2/3 override and nullifies it

Fast startup isn't needed anyway if you're using a SSD
comment in response to
post
Make sure fast start up under the power settings is disabled. If it's enabled, it can prevent shut down after an update
comment in response to
post
To be honest, Microsoft should disable fast start up because it's no longer needed. It was only needed if the boot drive was an old-fashioned hard drive. With a SSD drive, there's absolutely no point to fast start up.
comment in response to
post
Yeah you have to go in there and turn off what's called fast start up. When that's enabled, it basically just signs you out of windows and hibernate the system. This can also cause problems with the system acting weird during Windows updates. So always make sure fast start up is off
comment in response to
post
This is incorrect. This is because you have not configured the power settings properly. Windows defaults to a mini hibernation when you shut it down, but you can change it in power setting so it truly shuts down
comment in response to
post
Well most updates require a restart, but it should eventually shut down. If it's not doing that, something is broken.

This is straight up white supremacy and leading down the path to Nazism.

Of course, you can bet that he will only apply this to Latin and Middle Eastern people, and will never see it applied to a white immigrant.

It was used inconsistently in the 20th century, with periods of intense activity during the World Wars and the Cold War, and much less often in less parlous times

I thought once you become a citizen, you're permanently a citizen, but I guess not.
The process for invalidating naturalization was created by statute in 1906, providing that citizenship may be canceled if it was obtained through false statements or fraudulent omissions.

LGB people can go back into the closet if they absolutely had to, but it's very hard for a lot of people to hide that they're transgender. I have a feeling a lot of LGBT people are going to start moving towards blue states in the next few years – if they can afford it.

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Republicans tried to repeal the 1964 civil rights act. If that gets new, that means segregation and all sorts of nastiness could come back. Although Black people in Congress probably wouldn't support that. But first, they will come after lgbt.

We could see a federal law making it illegal for doctors to dispense hormone and surgical treatments to transgendered people. We could see a federal bill outlawing abortion. We could have the Supreme Court overturn same-sex marriage or a federal law banning it nationwide.

I'm gay, but luckily I'm a white dude. I can't image what's coming for trans people, and eventually people of color. I mean if I were trans, or a person of color, I would be BEYOND terrified right now.

Only 70 some odd million people voted for Trump. I don't think the rest of the 280 million people understand what's ACTUALLY coming. Politically, the US is going to enter a phase more conservative than has been seen in probably 75 years. Luckily, socially, the United States isn't as conservative.

We have a criminal/sex offender as president again. We have cabinet member sex offenders & statutory rapists. We have a Supreme Court justice that's been accused of rape. No consequences for any of them. Republicans don't care about morals/laws anymore. All they care about is they get their way.

I remember when Republicans used to kick people out of office/recall (or prosecute) them for the same behavior that they are now allowing and making excuses for today. Now, it doesn't matter what their politicians do. The only thing matters is that they shaped the country the way they want to

Nuts that a crazy anti-VAX, and a sexual predator can be appointed to cabinet & Attorney General. Although, look at Donald Trump. He's a sexual predator, and he's going to be president for the 2nd time. I could go steal a candy bar, and I would spend more time in jail than Trump or Gaetz.

I'm left of center - not progressive, and I've been freaking out over p2025. I'm actually kind of surprised the ms media ignored project 2025. I think a lot of the people who sat on their butts during the election would've actually voted against Donald Trump have they become fully aware of it.
