I love when I find myself in great company.

I like how this shot of a downy woodpecker came out.

I thought Bluesky would be better than Twitter, but I'm getting an endless stream of followers who all seem to be Asian females who post a series of liberal reposts and don't seem to have any content of their own. It all feels very scammy.

For anyone who hasn't received an expected royalty for April 1 from Penguin Random Whatever, they now require a scanned W9 to release payments. But they never told me this until I asked where my money was. Let your author friends know, if you think this might affect them.

I embrace the pleasure that comes from being an amateur photographer. I know I would have to learn a lot before I could come close to the sort of shots the pros get. But sometimes, a photo happens to look very nice, and I like to share those. Here's one from this morning of a downy woodpecker.

Happy National Poetry Month. Here's a link to the poetry scene (about poetry, written in prose) from Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie, which hits its 20th anniversary this June, and always sells well on the day before summer-reading essays are due. You'll love it. davidlubar.com/SFNL_poetry_scene.htm

Canadians! 🇨🇦 Book industry needs your help (incl. for 🇨🇦 book creators like me, whose books are published and/or warehoused in U.S.). Dept of Finance seeks feedback before April 2nd, 2025 re: tariffs, including tariffs on BOOKS coming into Canada from US: slowburnbooks.ca/april-2-tariff #CanLit

I am so proud of my daughter. www.pw.org/about-us/new...

Fourth outage for Twitter today. Apparently, unlike boxing, Twitter does not have a three-knockdown rule.

I suspect some of the newer writers here might never have seen this essential clip from Harlan Ellison, so I figured I'd post a link. (And if you are thinking "Harlan who?" you definitely should watch it.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj5I...

I'm happy to announce that the local red-winged blackbirds have started getting ready for mating and nesting.

In a slight departure from my posts of birds and stuff like that, here's something political:

Look what my favorite daughter did! The title refers to Margitte's "The Treachery of Images," aka "This is not a pipe." merionwest.com/2025/01/22/t...

I suspect whoever named the hairy woodpecker never considered that possibility that someday people would try to get middle-school boys interested in birding.

Wow -- those snow geese cast a HUGE shadow...

I love how this photo of a dark-eyed junco came out.

Like a cardinal in the wind...

Six gees a laying... (Disclaimer -- not geese.) (Disclaimer -- not laying) Happy New Year!
