Thank you so much. It's lovely to see that one remembered.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Several of our doctors retired after Covid, and it has not been fun replacing them.

The whole system sucks. When my wife has encountered this, she's always asked if it's possible to see a physician's assistant or nurse practitioner at the practice. That's gotten her into the doorway several times.

That's the philosophy that led me to eat one deep-fried Oreo purchased from a stall on the boardwalk in Wildwood, NJ. I survived.

She is absolutely wrong about women's prisons not having levels of security. A friend had a program where women in prison got to pick out a picture book for their child, and we recorded them reading the book for the kid. The prison, in NJ, had minimum, medium, and max security sections.

If I follow back, I get a message trying to begin a conversation with generic stuff like "How's your day going?"

This is real stunning. Does it exist in a book or a print or anything?

Good point about the phone games. Maybe if the airports had pinball machines?

Congratulations! It's so lovely to see yourself on the shelves. I also always got a kick out of who my shelf neighbors were. Lot's of times, I was right next to Louis Lowry, which was a total thrill, or my pal Eric Luper.

Love it! Thanks for sharing. I can imagine how that would be even more fun to watch in Denver.

P.S. I love the cartoon. 😀

I recently resumed finding potential points of interest for Pokemon Go. I've been scouring maps and walking through parks, campuses, and towns that have been overlooked. I emailed a professor about an arboretum map and another about a poetry-in-nature project. Both were enthusiastic.

Well, it's crucial for the eagles to be healthy since these folks do believe the raptor is coming to sweep them up to heaven.

Nice! I had a surprise visit to my deck from a brown thrasher a few days ago, and it's still around. What a lovely surprise.

I was showing Connections to my wife a while ago, and we discovered it's a lot of fun to solve together. When we're stumped, which doesn't happen too often since you only need to figure out 3 of the 4 groups, we either admit we should have known the answer or grumble about an arcane connection.

Looking forward to seeing what you're writing next. Sending this to strip my daughter, who is a poet. Though she might not need any compassion chocolate for a week or two after this news: www.pw.org/about-us/new...

Sadly, I also had my "Yay! I slept all the way until 6:30" moment this morning.

That's very cool! It's nice when someone with a reputation for being snarky takes to you.

Everything is such a clusterfuck right now. I'm sorry Bourbon was cleared from your shelves, but your Canadian whiskeys are absolutely excellent. I've enjoyed a variety of them. Here's hoping we get past this madness soon.

I stopped traveling in 2019 after 25 years, but I generally charged conferences the same rate as a school visit. In my case, $2,000. (I didn't start out at that rate. I worked up to it from $800.) Tip -- look up the conference and check the list of past speakers to see if there's anyone you know.

Great photo. That's the only type of owl I've ever managed to see and photograph. But there's a pair of great-horned owls not far from me that seem to have settled on a nesting area, so I'm hoping to see them.

When the TV show was out, I picked up A Catskill Eagle, read it, and immediately started reading all the Spenser novels in sequence, along with all his other books. What an amazing writer, and how nice to hear he was a good guy. Thank you for posting that.

Pairing erotica with nuts definitely adds another layer of meaning to that sign.

Nice. I thought this was going in the direction of Hemingway's 6-word story, but you put your own twisted spin on it. 😀

Thank you so much. That was very thoughtful, and your instincts were right on target. Great post. I'm following her now.

Excellent advice. Whenever I hear anyone give a minimum word count for middle-grade books, I ask them if they've heard of or read Sarah, Plain and Tall.

Thank you. I'll let her know she got kind words from an amazing artist. She's always done art. Originally drawing, painting, and sculpting. (She got to shadow Denise Brunkus one year for a career shadow thing, then immediately asked for oil pastels.) But she is now heavily involved with poetry.

My daughter made this for me out of Sculpey way back when she was a kid. She used a marble for the crystal ball. I keep it on my bookcase.

It's a Panasonic Lumix FZ300. I got it because it's water proof and dust proof and I'm clumsy and careless. It's a lot more affordable than cameras with detachable lenses. You're definitely right about the creative choices. I enjoy that part, and like what I get.
