I'm always faintly annoyed by the Icarus story. Punished for daring to stretch himself, when what should have happened is that he discovered the conventional wisdom that it would get hotter the higher in the sky you went was false; you weren't getting near the sun, you were heading into cooler air.

My next project is my fourth folk horror novel. I know who the characters are and pretty much most of what happens, in what order. But I can’t start writing yet, until… I don’t really know. Until all the bits get struck by lightning and fuse together into a novel, not a story.
