Goodnight BSKY. Will report in on the agent call tomorrow for those who are interested. Meanwhile, litter boxes, feeding 11 cats, and sleep.

Adding the missing cat.

I passed 78,500 words on the new novel in progress after not working on it for at least a couple of weeks while revising another novel and addressing editing notes on my upcoming collection. Over 1k words feels good, and it was a vital moment in the stoyr. I posted some earlier. But this time a cat.

Reminding self to never post writing things without a cat.

Sometimes it's a good idea to *stop* drinking. The other night I was sipping on a bottle of whiskey and sitting in one of the chairs on our back patio, hoping that the possum might show. A few drinks in I started freaking out, wondering where the sun was. Hours later... it dawned on me.

🧵 1/2 Fun fact... started up where I left off - read through the last chapter I'd written. It wasn't finished, and I was remembering right up until where it stopped mid-sentence and I was like... HOLY FUCK... this is the pivotal, biggest moment in 77,000 words... and I stopped here...

Had Pad Thai for dinner... Thai hot, but they got it just perfect... not enought to prevent speech or breathing, but too hot for most people. Now watching some horror movie where a haunted apartment sucks shower curtains into the wall...

The agent got my novel revision today... and read the whole thing. "Much better. Only ten or fifteen minor fixes." Will be on the phone with her in the morning, make those changes, and it will be back off to the publisher... again. And we'll see. Hope is a trap (lol) Here is another.

Hey Mike... YES, if you are hiring thugs, convicted January 6th terrorists, and illegally arresting people - just like any other officer of the law - they need to identify themsleves. Also, YOUR complaint about masks was that thieves & gangs would use them. We just didn't want to get sick and die.

@floregonian.com I will blame you if I hate it (lol) Turns out they did have this at the local ABC.

Am I going to have to mute popcorn?

One of my goals is to reach a point where the authors I read and love are reading and loving my books... it's a long road back from any loss of readership, I'll tell you. I have books that sold in the 100's of thousands (mostly tie-ins but still) Now I have to fight for a couple of hundred. Onward!

"He dropped the guitar back to his knee and strummed. Voice low, he sang the mournful strains of “John the Revelator,” the Son House version he’d heard once floating out the window of a bar in Old Mill, wishing the music could wash it all away and bring back the sun." books2read.com/u/bz9yPj

Goes without saying that if you have not read The Only Good Indians by @sgj.bsky.social you should know that it's on sale in eBook everywhere.
