Cory Doctorow: Firing the Refs Doesn't End the Game pluralistic.net/2025/03/12/e...

Authoritarian Move of the Day: Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney Ed Martin enables Republican president's weaponization of the Justice Department to harass a Congressman for role in Trump's first impeachment: www.rappnews.com/news/politic...

The economy is showing severe warning signs after Trump's first month in office. This shouldn't be surprising. He doesn't understand the economy and tanked pretty much every business he ever touched. youtu.be/zbh9SW5Cgqg?...

The real choice Democrats face is not between a continuing resolution that allows the government to function normally or a government shutdown. Under the Trump regime, the government is not functioning normally. It is already shutting down. Why vote to legitimize Trump's coup?

The provision of the 14th amendment that the Supreme Court unanimously wrote out of the constitution existed for a reason. Its drafters knew what would happen if you allowed insurrectionists back into power.

This is going to be important: www.nbcnews.com/politics/tru...

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

And Democrats have caved. rollcall.com/2025/03/13/s...

“we have to be able to commit war crimes to win wars” is the type of thing a 16-year-old dumbass says and — well, yeah, hegseth is basically a 16-year-old dumbass

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.

There is no point in Senate Democrats voting to fund the government only to let Trump and Musk do whatever they see fit with those funds. Dems should only vote for a continuing resolution if it stops DOGE pillaging and fully funds services. Call your Dem Senator 202-224-3121

What’s to stop the Trump regime from arresting American citizens who support any cause the regime doesn’t like? Where, may I ask, are the “First Amendment absolutists” these days? Where are all the Republicans who for years have accused liberals of “cancelling” their views?

I hope DOGE can find some waste, fraud or abuse. Let us know. theintercept.com/2025/03/10/p...

Why is Trump waging a war on the Department of Education? Because he knows that his biggest enemies are educators and younger generations of learners who are unafraid to speak truth to power. Attacks on education are central to the fascist playbook.

Elon Musk's Creepy Kids of Death are seen as the villainous minions of their evil tech lord, and rightly so. A step back for perspective can show that their youth is no coincidence: their inexperience makes them so much easier to manipulate, to recruit into the cult. Quoting Cory Doctorow:

“The president I voted for, the man who says ‘Let’s make America great again, let’s help small businesses grow,’ that man is going to put me out of business.” www.seattletimes.com/business/he-...

As Trump tries to dismantle the Department of Education, remember that his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15% would give the 100 largest corporations a tax cut larger than the entire department's K-12 budget. Really think about how twisted this all is.

Epic idea

You're not even an American, Musk. Go back to Africa. www.seattletimes.com/nation-world...

1. Amazingly prolific and important columnist deserving of much more respect. 2. Spiking is one thing — it’s their paper, so they can make stupid decisions all day long — but not explaining the spike to someone like her is chickenshit move of an inept leader. 3. They don’t care. 4. Call me, Jeff.

"The only vehicle Tesla has launched since the 2020 Model Y is the Cybertruck. The pickup had sales of 38,965 units last year, Cox Automotive estimates, well below the 250,000 that Musk initially predicted Tesla would produce by 2025..." www.reuters.com/business/aut...

One of my companies informed me they cancelled a $2m conference in Florida. Why ? They didn’t feel they could pass on the incremental cost of tariffs. So they are cutting expenses. That’s a city that lost a ton of tourism revenue. The cost of tariffs isn’t just the cost of the tariff

"...the sudden deterioration in the outlook it striking, especially because it is almost entirely a result of Trump's policies and the resulting uncertainty." www.seattletimes.com/business/tru...

Looks like Trumpty-Dumpty had a great fall Splat! From the wall [street] See what I did there?

"President Donald Trump honored a child cancer survivor during his joint address to Congress. Medical school faculty who helped treat him are facing potentially devastating federal funding cuts..." www.usatoday.com/story/news/e...
