Strong Yorkshire, strong UK! Great to meet up with Tracy, Oliver and Angela at Yorkshire and Humber Labour Party Conference.

Great to be with my fellow Northern mayors at the Convention of the North talking about all the great offerings we have in our region.

This week I launched 3 Mayoral Challenge Funds, to support York and North Yorkshire’s high streets, our ambition to be the first carbon negative region in the UK, and innovation in skills. Find out more below. yorknorthyorks-ca.gov.uk/what-we-do/p...

In London today to talk about the great opportunities for York and North Yorkshire. Good to talk with @simonlightwood.org.uk about how we can bring better busses to our region.

Spent the day with an army of volunteers putting together hampers and dinners for people who will be alone on Christmas Day. Not sure I’ve ever done anything more worthwhile in my life. A joy to be apart of. 🎄

Picked up my Christmas cards from @stleonardshospice in Easingwold while out and about in North Yorkshire yesterday - thanks to the really helpful volunteers.

Businesses and residents in Tadcaster now have the chance to have their say on the Environment Agency major new flood alleviation scheme. Head to the planning portal before January 6 and let's get this project over the line: www.gov.uk/government/n...

Our beautiful landscapes are wonderful, but we need to support the isolated communities that live there. That's why I have contributed around £600,000 to the Village Hall and Community Building Programme. Read more here: yorknorthyorks-ca.gov.uk/mayor-funds-...

Great to see York City goalscoring legend Keith Walwyn having a street named in his honour at the Bootham Crescent development. I met Keith’s wife, Liz, at the new houses on Keith Walwyn Walk, overlooking the green area where the pitch was located at the former ground of the #Minstermen.

Yorkies as far as the eyes can see. 🍫

It's #SmallBusinessSaturday - small businesses across York and North Yorkshire are so vital to our high streets and communities. As a small business owner I know how important this time of year is, so if you can go and support your local small businesses.

Real honour to be invited to the North Yorkshire Police & North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Awards & present the Public Choice Awards along side my Deputy Mayor @jocoles.bsky.social

145km done, 5km. Thank you to everyone who has donated and support my challenge and helped the team at @YMenfulness justgiving.com/page/mayors5k

It was great to catch up with Yorkshire County Cricket Club's Jonny Tattersall on run 27/30 of my daily 5km challenge! An active lifestyle and spending time outside is key to my vision of creating healthy and thriving communities.

Great to get one of my 5km runs in with Jo Coles, Deputy Mayor for Police, Fire & Crime. If you can support my challenge then please do so at www.justgiving.com/page/mayors5...

Great news that York and North Yorkshire has been selected as a trailblazer to link up health, skills and employment support. This is a really positive step and allows us to use local knowledge and experience to help get people back to work. www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/2475025...

I am nearing the end of my 5km a day challenge for Menfulness & I wanted to thank everyone for the support. This hasn't been easy, but navigating your mental health isn't easy either. That's why there are groups like Menfulness, they provide a brilliant support network for those who need it most.

Thanks @lukecharters.bsky.social for joining me yesterday on my 23rd 5K in November in support of Menfulness . Taking time to talk to a mate is so important - whether it's while you run or not. If you can, please donate at justgiving.com/page/mayors5k

Great to meet the Scarborough UTC Unity Racing team team before they flew out to Saudi Arabia for the F1 in Schools World Final. We must connect our young people to opportunities through skills development, careers support and future employment so we can create healthy and thriving communities.

𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬... It was fantastic to have our new Business Board around the table for the first time, chaired by Jennifer Wood. These members represent our region’s business community and are reflective of the innovation and talent that we possess in York and North Yorkshire.

𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 In my @yorkpress.bsky.social monthly column, I outline my vision for resilient communities where everyone has access to safe spaces, warm and affordable homes, and opportunities to thrive.

Great to have Louise Haigh visit us today to discuss the future of buses in our region and the futher investment of £12.7m. I look forward to working closely with the Department of Transport to improve connectivity right across York and North Yorkshire.

Saddened to hear the news of John Prescott. A truly hardworking politician who did so much for the people of this country, no more so than those in the North. He’ll be missed. 🌹

🧵 Last week I went to see the great work Grow Yorkshire is doing to support our farmers. I know that farmers & rural communities are concerned right now. As Mayor of a predominantly rural region, I’ve made supporting farming a Mayoral priority, & it is the first of our priorities in our growth plan

Great to be out with the Menfulness team tonight for their weekly 5km. 19 down 11 more to go!

Two weeks in, two weeks to go! Thank you for all the support as I run 5k every day in November for @menfulnessuk If you can donate, head to justgiving.com/page/mayors5k

Morning run, over half way through the 5km daily challenge. Legs are definitely feeling it now! www.justgiving.com/page/mayors5k

If you get a chance then you must visit Castle Howard’s ‘Alice’s Christmas Wonderland’, truly stunning with arguably the biggest Christmas tree I’ve ever seen!

Two weeks in, and I am still running 5km everyday to raise awareness for Menfulness. As Mayor I want to build healthy and thriving communities, where people are connected to the outdoors. An active lifestyle and spending regular time outside improves mental and physical health outcomes.

Earlier this week I launched the York and North Yorkshire Development Forum. Building on the ambitions of the Business Board, the forum brought together the developers behind key employment sites across the region. Read more: eu1.hubs.ly/H0dHGRV0

I want to develop healthy and resilient communities, that are connected to opportunity, where people live in warm and affordable homes, where people are connected to the outdoors and where there are safe places for all. You can read more here: lnkd.in/eYvVmshM

Brilliant to discuss today issues like retail crime, transport improvements, tech innovation, and housing needs with SME4Labour yesterday in London. As a proud small business owner myself, I know how challenging it has been for us over the last few years.

Every day in November I'll be running a 5K to raise awareness and funds for Menfulness- a fantastic local charity fighting stigma around men's mental health. If you see me around York and North Yorkshire, give me a wave, and if you can, please donate at: justgiving.com/page/mayors5k
