My lab works on Alzheimer disease (AD), the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. While this administration seeks to slash biomedical research to the tune of 4 billion dollars a year, the healthcare costs associated with AD treatment alone is projected to exceed $1 trillion by 2050.

Are other outlets covering this? It's effectively another freeze on NIH funding. By my count, 3/8 study sections were cancelled today, 4/8 are cancelled tomorrow. Will only get worse as we hit those that were not posted before 1/20 @zey.bsky.social ? www.thetransmitter.org/funding/fede...

It took 11 DAYS for A SINGLE NIH employee to leak this missive to the press? dear god. it has been clear that the register has been frozen since Inauguration Day. this is somehow the first news report on the impoundment of NIH funding by unclear officials from HHS.
