You blocked anon edits—thanks. And deleted info about UTSW. Created quite the scare today here—which could very well be warranted. Wouldn’t be surprised if we were to freeze. Or have. But it’s harmful to spread anonymous information without sourcing. I know this was done with good intentions.

gave my lab 10-min to reply with 5-bullet points as to what they accomplished in the past week. no one made the deadline, DESPITE it being Saturday at 7PM. so all have been assigned to using turboID on turbo-charged cancers. what does that mean? like elon, I don't think. I act! many cures coming!

Huh. I guess she didn’t invent Google?

First time I ever used grok. Not bad. Ha.

Should have asked grok. It disagrees.

I know. I just truly don’t understand the metaphor. Does she think mRNA causes cancer?

If anyone knows where the ut southwestern rumor is coming from, we’d like to know. We hosted admitted students yesterday and no one said anything about this.

Where does the ut southwestern info come from? We hosted admitted students for in person visit yesterday. There was no chatter about this.

Please reach out if you need advice on youth camp law! There are no limits to how many junior achievers you can advise. Well there are. If you don’t register as a camp.

I guess NIH staff really like traveling? That’s the only thing I’m aware of.

yeah, it's better than nothing! :)

Yay! We unfroze renewals! The NIH is saved!

don't forget CD nomenclature. I refuse to engage. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cluster... ...and lab grade ethanol-resistant markers. use em or perish. :)

If job talks, no prelim data = no hire. They want to see that you have a straightforward path to funding. Else, it’s just conjecture. Ideas are cheap.

Thank you so much, Jeremy! I wish I never had to follow your posts/updates so religiously, but here we are. No freezes/cuts here yet at UT Southwestern, but suspect they are coming.

Yeah, all for mixed format—with a few slides (data/premade graphics) and open discussion/needling, maybe a bit of drawing on a board. The straight drawing with no data irks me. Rewards those that draw well on the fly, which is not necessarily a good predictor of scientific ability.

"your interest in our work"? what funding agency writes that? we are not interested in your work. we our interested in your money.

any word on whether this has occurred at other institutions? worried about our admitted grad students :(

sure. but Backstreet Boys AND *NSYNC will play Madonna's 'Erotica' at DJT's funeral. it will be epic.

I think this is like when 12+ inches of snow are forecast for overnight and you have to decide whether to do your homework....

I dont think most in the NIH have any clue what is going on. They are definitely not receiving any information from superiors. Seems like most on study sections are told all things are go until the day before and then "canceled"
comment in response to post
third-hand information. maybe some court injunction can speed up the process? but when was the NIH known for its speed?
comment in response to post
nothing has been posted since January 20. and the OMB is now requiring 35 days minimum between submission and study section. so, it's not happening. what what I can glean, study sections will then have to get a new FRN assignment. and be held 35 days after the canceled date. so pray for late April?

no one had until we unfortunately...had to. www.federalregister.gov/documents/se...

Doesn't matter what Commons says. Check the Federal Register. If study section is not publicly announced there, it cannot be held.
