the tldr to this is that if you are leaning on them and learning nothing then that’s pointless. but if you’re using them as tools then using the outputs to learn and grow yourself then they are extremely useful and it seems really silly to me to not use them for that purpose

But what about the part of creating conditions for people to actually do this? Decent wages with less working hours, inexpensive and high quality food, walkable neighborhoods, accessible health insurance? It's not public policy if you just tell people "do this" and watch them not do it.
