Christmas cards in February. Plus a year old anniversary card which had been sent from Canada to Spain,and back again as it wasn't recieved. It's come back again to Wales a year late, with lady xmas' card (Canadá postal strike). I also found our Belgian friends card wedged in the lid of a box.🤣🤣🤣

Back to leaden grey skies in Swansea, with even heavier hearts. At least our boy 🐈‍⬛️ is home. 💔 It was such a tough 5 days travelling, taking his little casket of ashes into hotel rooms and the ferry cabin. There was no way he was staying in a bag in the car. Sod's law,someone would break in steal it.

Burgos cathedral, burial place of El Cid. Remember the Charlton Heston/Sophia Loren film of the same name? It poured with rain shortly after I took this pic, and we only had one ☔️ between us. This was the night before our ferry from Santander to Portsmouth and we finally arrived in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 today.

So tearful leaving our home in Spain this morning, locking up, and putting our cat in the car in a box of ashes, in a paper carrier bag. This will be his final ferry to Wales. It's heartbreaking, but we've broken the trip north into 2 stops. Toledo & Burgos. Can't face an 8 hour drive in one day.🐈‍⬛️⛴️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

It's time to go home. Our winter trip is done, the car is almost packed, ready for the 'off' in the morning. Our beloved cat's ashes are coming with us, but they've had a photo with his portrait, and he can spend one last night on the sofa. I can't read the poem from the crematorium yet, in the bag.

When Messi was found under leaves in our garden, he was covered in poo, eye gunk, and you can see a fly on his whiskers if you look closely. We soon cleaned him up, with a tiny soft nail brush for his fur. Fourteen years went by, and now he's gone. 💔

Thankfully, my dentist in Spain provides appointments within a couple of days. Sometimes, even the same day! Unlike the UK, where it takes weeks, it is getting hugely expensive even on the NHS. I paid less than at home and have the benefit of a gorgeous French man staring into my mouth. Ooh, lala!

A last lunch in the sun before we leave Spain for Wales later this week. This morning's sad sight in the wake of our loss yesterday 🐈‍⬛️...our donation to the local cat charity here in Spain. 😥 Carrier, portable toilet, and kitty litter. That's it, then.
