nice

It was a centerpiece of the election that Biden had failed the people of North Carolina after Helene (he didn't). And now this. Beyond shameful.

Homeless workers now have to submit *proof of employment* to be allowed to sleep in their cars in one of the richest counties in the U.S. Welcome to America: people shivering overnight in subzero temperatures, steps from luxury ski resorts, for the privilege of keeping the local economy booming.

Spirit win and the Shakespeare Theatre streak is back!!

she is smart to run hard on this. frankly any D with ambitions to lead the party should decide enough is enough and pelosi can’t live forever and it’s time to rip off the goddamn bandaid and get the entire party behind making this shit illegal.

New York Times served up an instant classic out-of-touch headline describing RFK Jr. as "hitting his stride" but you know what's actually hitting it's stride? Measles! From @melodyschreiber.com newrepublic.com/article/1939...

More like Nøregaard for his opponent's safety.

Trump tried to bury this story on a Friday night, but it’s extremely important: He’s planning to take land on the border controlled by the Dept. of Interior and sign it over to Dept. of Defense so migrants “would have trespassed on a military installation,” resulting in harsher punishment.

Trump exempting computers & phones from the tariffs today means that Chinese-made laptops now have lower tariffs than European Cars, Mexican Steel, & Canadian Lumber. Also means Vietnamese-made laptops have a lower tariff than Ethiopian coffee, Indian tea, & Guatemalan bananas

The four Democrats who voted for the SAVE Act were Reps. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, Ed Case, Henry Cuellar, and Jared Golden. End their careers as soon as you can; harangue them when you see them in public. This was an irredeemable act of voter suppression.

MGP voted to disenfranchise tens of millions of women voters when she signed her name to the SAVE Act, if she has a business that you can shut down with protest, do it.

I’ve never seen a tweet that more effectively communicates how we got to this current situation

at my hair cutting place and a barber is earnestly explaining to the guy in his chair what the FDIC is and what it means if the government doesn’t stand behind our money. just for context, this particular guy is usually vaping and talking about girls. we’re cooked I fear

this could be a DOGE-broke-something error but there's a non-zero chance we'll eventually get to legal, born in the United States citizens getting expelled from the country

This is a very good point that I haven't seen made yet. It's not just Trump that is undermining trust in the US. It is also the inability of US institutions to stop him. And even if you make that "inability to stop him so far," it's already too far to maintain trust.

There are some very bad stories going around about the Mahmoud Kahlil case. The hearing today was before an immigration judge — which is located within the Justice Department. They are NOT a "federal judge" in the sense that anyone reading at least one nationwide story saying so thinks of it.

I missed this yesterday. Trump is considering offering all 57,000 Greenland residents a stipend of 10 grand a year to join the United States. That would cost the US $570 million a year. (Gift link 🎁) www.nytimes.com/2025/04/10/u...

part of the reason I'm thinking about not going to Scotland this summer is that my knee isn't fully rehabbed, but the other part is the rather decent possibility that I'll get detained or otherwise hassled coming home
