Here is the Israeli Minister of Defense Katz explicitly stating Israel's policy to block all humanitarian aid from entering Gaza. No aid at all has been allowed in for over 6 weeks. This is monstrous, yet being critical of it will get you labeled antisemitic by the Trump admin.

Israel tried to gain American support for an attack targeting Iran's nuclear facilities next month. Trump, so far, wants to give diplomacy a chance first, and apparently the plan is off for now. Important report.

Astronomers detected a possible signature of life on a planet orbiting a star 120 light-years away.

"At least five children and three adults with cholera died as they went in search of treatment in South Sudan after aid cuts by the Trump administration shuttered local health clinics" www.nytimes.com/2025/04/11/w...

Trump is such a lousy strongman. He wants to defy the Supreme Court without openly defying the same. We're supposed to believe that the Salvadorian president who is sitting next to him in the White House having a friendly conversation adamantly refuses to return the man wrongfully deported. 1/2

"The consequences for Sudan’s 51 million people have been devastating. Tens of thousands are reportedly dead. Hundreds of thousands face famine. Almost 13 million people have been displaced, 4 million of those to neighbouring countries."

Harvard stands up to Trump: “Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government," [its] attorneys [write]. “Accordingly, Harvard will not accept the government’s terms as an agreement in principle.” www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

"Gone is 'I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.'.. Two copies of 'Mein Kampf' by Adolf Hitler are still on the shelves. Gone is 'Memorializing the Holocaust.' 'The Camp of the Saints' by Jean Raspail is still on the shelves. 'The Bell Curve'... is still there. But a critique of the book was pulled."

I'm thinking of boycotting my landlord since rental payments have been suspiciously one-sided.

‘Shame’ on world leaders for neglect of displaced civilians in DRC, says aid chief

This CBC video breaks down in terms everyone can understand the bizarre way in which the Trump administration went about calculating the various tariff rates used to impose tariffs. It's absurd. youtu.be/PWhv-06DNjE?...

Here is the video of the 15 medics being shot at, along with the IDF's statement about what happened. They all died, including the person filming. IDF then buried the bodies along with the vehicles, and refused to let anyone retrieve them for 5 days.

I didn't believe Israel's version of events for a second, and it's past time for media houses to stop playing the Palestinians-says-x/Israel-says-not-x game. Israel lies about almost everything; its credibility should be in tatters. To continue to give it any benefit of the doubt is to be complicit.

As an Antiguan, l thought it was perplexing that the Trump admin would impose tariffs on tiny Antigua and Barbuda, which has a huge trade deficit with the US. Then I learned that it also imposed tariffs on some territories with no economy, and some with no people! edition.cnn.com/2025/04/03/b...

Evidence of ‘execution-style’ killings of 15 Palestinian aid workers by Israeli forces, doctor says

Sorry, but this is still what I think of when Cory Booker comes up.

War crimes: Israel killed 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers one by one and then buried them in a mass grave eight days ago in southern Gaza, the UN has confirmed. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

I received a heartbreaking email today: A paper in a special issue I’m editing is being retracted because one of its authors is afraid of losing their job and their legal status in the U.S. if they publish a scientific study on evolution. Yes, on evolution, nature's engine of diversity.

This is why if I were one of those anti-DEI types, and I were genuinely concerned about merit, I would be furious at what Trump is doing with all the unqualified supporters he has installed in cabinet positions. The fact that there is no such outcry tells you a lot of what you need to know.

With all of the discussions involving the bombing of the Houthis, one thing is often omitted: In disrupting maritime traffic in the Red Sea, they are looking to end Israel's genocide in Gaza. That's it. It doesn't make them 'terrorists'; far from it. They are the good guys in this situation.

Nearly 1000 teachers, academics, and more are mounting an academic boycott of Columbia. Columbia "is colluding with the current U.S. government's project to destroy higher education and criminalize protest," they say. Signers include Noura Erakat, Marc Lamont Hill, Ruha Benjamin.

Save the Children says more than 270 Palestinian children have been killed in the week since Israel resumed its war on Gaza, marking some of “the deadliest days for children since the war began”. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.io/2q97hr

The lesson is clear: If you're not an American citizen, don't study in, or accept a job in, the US.

For 7 months Israel resisted accepting the ceasefire deal that was on the table. In Jan, it finally relented. What changed? The main thing is that the incoming Trump admin signaled to Israel that it would let it resume the war. Tonight it did. And now it'll have no constraints and will allow no aid

Kinda striking how often the current administration's justification for their actions is literally just "I want to do this and I won the election, therefore I can do this." The whole point of a functioning US system of govt is to PREVENT all-powerful monarchs, not to just choose them via elections.

"Not only is silence in the face of mounting authoritarianism morally objectionable, but, as the Columbia case suggests, it’s not working. Remaining silent will not protect us." www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

If you're a philosopher working on the ideal/non-ideal theory dispute in political philosophy, I want to recommend checking out the work of Argentinian philosopher Eduardo Rivera-López on non-ideal moral theory. It is very good, and it's been almost completely neglected by political philosophers.

I was thinking just a couple days ago that much of what's happening now supports H.L.A. Hart's argument in The Concept of Law (1961) for when a legal system can properly be said to exist.

Alawite communities on the Syrian coast are being systematically massacred, man, woman, and child. Everyone. These are innocent civilians, not so-called 'forces loyal to the Assad regime,' as some media houses are still reporting. It has the feel of an early stage of a Rwanda-style genocide.
