Interesting take. I don't get that reading at all. People decide to take what they want from films. I view Ghibli films as including comfy and cozy themes and images -- as well as horrifc, scary and terrifying images (earthquake, air bombardment, etc.)

My favorite part (I still have a hard time believing this is real): "We encourage people of color and ethnic groups to sign up for maximum perception control and these individuals will be prominently displayed on the televised broadcast and local viewing screens to be seen by the VIP platform."

He'll make those who are allowed to stay wear special armbands in public. (I started writing this as a sick joke but realized it might not be.)

When this is all over ... the people will have lots of video evidence to demonstrate who the fascists and collaborators are.

The Administration's logic appears to be, "When more people die from lack of health care, there will be less need for health care!"

I'm concerned about RFK Jr's dismantling of our health care system. Please explain your decision to approve his nomination, and describe how you are trying to rescind his current antihealth actions. - Dennis McDonald, Alexandria Virginia

I'm getting the impression that one Republicon goal is to get Democrats to blame themselves for the onset of Trumpist fascism. They seem to be succeeding but I'm not buying it.

The MAGAt children who suffer will just be considered "acceptable collateral damage," I guess.

I'm assuming Kennedy will name replacements for what will now be known as his personal "Death Panel."

Reminds me of how the now-disgraced Waashington Post had BIDEN IS OLD and DEMOCRATS IN DISGRACE as recurring themes in its "news" reporting.

Remember when "death panels" were just another campaign lie? They're real now.

Thank you for not using the term "general public" -- there ain't no such thing. My main advice: "Shoot where the ducks are." Write pieces with an understanding of of where you will publish them, not necessarily in the media you are comfortable with, but in the media read by your target readers.

Governors of Red states need to be asked publicly if following current law governing how National Guard are called up by the Federal government a matter of "states' rights" or not?

When blood runs in the streets, don't just blame Trump, blame the Republicons in the House and the Senate who approve of all this.

I remember Kent State as well and watching trucks full of armed soldiers driving down the street in front of my apartment. What's even more vivid in memory is, on returning to Columbus Ohio years later, there were still people claiming "the students had it coming!" We're there already.

It appears that "centrist" is becoming the new "liberal" as an epithet designed to oversimplify the debate.

Somebody’s going to get killed. Remember Kent State.
