I’m sorry to hear that. There’s a lot of uncertainty in a lot of programs here as well. For now we seem to be ā€œsafeā€ as we continue to teach classes to guarantee our positions. The university needs us… for now.

Only technically, if you consider ā€œgraduate studentā€ a job. Which it is! But it’s a bit of a special case.

This fund specifically goes to Biology graduate students at Portland State University to support our research by paying for things like travel costs, testing costs, supply purchases, and other costs associated with our research projects.

It’s also extremely difficult to talk to chat when I’ve got 8 people in VC with me, lol. Between Valheim and Overwatch, I’ve got two stream times where I can’t talk to my viewers much and I feel bad! 😩 #streaming #gaming

I LOVED botany manor - they had all sorts of real scientific and historical tidbits incorporated into their puzzles!

Finally, I also lead and participate in lots of outreach and teaching activities, to get students more interested in working with plants! #science #plants 6/6

While in the lab, I can check on my stores of field collected Lupin seeds, that I’ll be using for a production experiment starting in April. #science #plants 4/…

Next up we head to the lab to check on some plates growing my bacterial cultures extracted from root nodules. I can even check them out under the microscope! #science #plants 4/…

Then I stop by the greenhouse to check on my seedlings and do a little hand pollination on my Firefly petunias. #science #plants 3/…

We start off in the growth chamber, checking on my old tissue culture cups and some cheery oat aphids to support some aphidius wasps in the greenhouse. #plants #science 2/…

Personally I don’t think hydroponics will ever REPLACE traditional farming, but it’s a great tool to use in places where farming won’t work. It expands our ability to grow food everywhere!

I love the idea! Did you design the bottle cap seed holder? I think with larger plants like cucumbers you might run into the roots really filling that channel and possibly girdling. We’ll see!

Yeah I saw we need the cultivator to start farming, but you get seeds and plants pretty early! And you can collect and eat plant stuff so that was something.

I wish it was more botany-based, but we’re likely to only see a small batch of plant-related stuff here. Foraging, crafting, and gardening as a support to the main crafting and survival aspects.

Thank you!!

Currently no, though that was a lot of what my masters was about. Now I’m working on studying plant-microbe interactions in the root zone of Lupin.

Nice! What equipment are you using for your weather station? We have one at my greenhouse on campus and the data collection and analysis can be fascinating.

Thanks for the follow! Your project sounds interesting, what region are you growing in?

Is it a board game??

Saving seed potatoes and other seeds for personal use is beyond the reach of patent lawyers for the most part, as far as I’m aware. Thank goodness! It’s only a problem when you have large farmers who sign seed contracts (which is still a frustrating practice).

I was thinking salad greens are great for people with limited space AND limited light. Living in the city, some people will only have window sill growing space or small shelves with small lights.

We are in the position at the club and school to be able to produce seedlings in the greenhouse early so we get a head start on this year’s gardening activities… it seems like we really may need it.

Hey thanks for the follow! Right now what my work looks like is working on my PhD and growing lots of Lupin in the greenhouse! I enjoy it but it’s a lot of work. I also like to play puzzle games, FPS’s, and games with or about plants.

I only did a short stream (1:45) and oh my goodness that game is stressful!

Games with plants in them, puzzle games, and FPS! What about you?

Bok Choi or pok choy is related to cabbage and popular in a lot of Asian cuisine! It’s delicious and easy to grow as another leafy green style crop.

Ooooh that one looks fun! Gonna try the demo asap!
