Teacher, grandma, lover of all things coding and STEM. #MinecraftEDU is my choice for #GBL and #Python coding. I am a #MIEEexpert and a #MicrobitChampion who just wants to keep giving to kids and educators as long as I can make a difference. #EduSky

I see a lack of coding activities here. They do mention robotics, but it's a big omission. There are websites where students can go to code, and economically priced devices. 🤖 I don't know how you can do #STEM without any art, But for curriculum, I suggest #Coding content. 🖥️

All kinds of kids, all kinds of ways to struggle... good struggle, bad struggle... and understanding them and caring about them is important but it's not enough if we don't have the skills. Sounds like a fantastic chat! @edusky.bsky.social #EduSky #TLAP

I think he might have missed the analogy. He's not talking about price fixing in companies, he's talking about determining tarrifs? Wasn't that the context? The tarrif situation is controversial, but I sure would be happy to find equality for prison laborers and kids frozen out of school to work.

One of the great honors of my life was the opportunity to write code for the Hubble space telescope. #coding #girlswhocode 🔭 ✨ #PrimarySTEMchat My dad worked on many missions, including the Pioneer Venus, engineering a probe to detect ions in its atmosphere. #STEMhero #EduSky @edusky.bsky.social

I don't know why any organization should be able to practice civil rights violations and still have tax-free status, be a non-profit organization, and also get funds. This needs to be clarified in the law and in the courts.

In the 80's they were trying to give the kids only certain foods to keep them from being hyper. When I was young, we would go outside and play tag, we would ride our bikes all day, have outdoor recess every day. We looked at the clouds and looked for 4 leaf clovers in the lawn. Something there.

Fun facts: The separation of church & state was intended to stop particular religious groups from collecting mandatory tithes from all citizens in a state, like Virginia did. Harvard started as a seminary. Yale, Princeton, & Brown began similarly. IMHO, Fed. funding is bad for private schools.

I think we want to treat people with dignity and respect, including all students. In regards to foreign students, the Trump administration did not create the reporting requirements. A search on "What are the reporting requirements for universities who admit foreign students" clarifies.

I was curious and read the article. The students in the picture look 6 yrs old. After reading, I suggest including ages for each activity. I don't know if 7-year-olds would be able to come up with countries and flight times, or if 5 year olds could handle the visual "pass." Thanks for posting.

I would lose any build battle easily unless I could use code to build everything. It's been years and still I stink at break and place because I'm always in the world for coding. It looks like fun! #minecraftedu #eduskyprimary #EduSky

Yes! Incredible worlds were built by collaborative pairs: an arena with code to arm combatants, a maze with 4 different biomes... This was the final battle in the #MinecraftEDU #Python arena tournament (I was eliminated 1st round;) #LevelUpEdu #slowchat #gamedesign #gamesineducation #EduSky

I love #MinecraftEDU My CS1 students are currently creating a #Minecraft game requiring a new skill. From that launch point, I give them a couple of wild examples, and then let them go! When I tell my students to wow me, they always do! #LevelUpEdu #slowchat #gamedesign #gamesineducation #EduSky

I like the creative common style in that. I think it's good looking. I like to use text; I include the prompt I used, the particular AI site I used, and the date. Remembering prompts is hugely helpful to me. When I'm having trouble I can look at a similar interaction, and fix things up. #EduSky

Well, we can speculate about what would have happened if all of the hostages have been returned, and the remains of those who were killed. I am troubled by the oppression of the Palestinian people, the rejection of them for sanctuary in nearby countries, and the terrible losses they have suffered.

We have come a long way since TV shows said that autism was thought to be the results of an "unresponsive mother." Medical science, especially in the case of childhood concerns affecting behavior, needs to earn more cred if it wants less scrutiny. 💉 That said, vaccinate your kid.

Because the hostages are not returned.

I was disappointed to learn that the photo/art hosting site that I pay for and have stored images on since 2003, has changed its terms and is allowing scraping of the art that is stored there. Some of it is art I have paid for. Many have terms of use. Hard to believe that is being respected. :(

That's a lot of syllables for bus stop. ;) I was learning about processing books from the previous librarian, who was a retired nun, about 92 years old. She said, everyone always shortens words. They can't say television, they say TV. When you watch for it You see it. She praised Polish by the way

I read the whole article. Teaching classes that encourage violence seems problematic. But what happened? No info? “There is no good reason for a government minister to... decide what is taught, funded or acceptable in our province’s universities and post-secondary institutions, ever,” Chender said.

This also sounds like a great reason to believe in #gamebasedlearning and #STEM instruction. I tell my older students that learning information is like building a city, and understanding is like building the roads in between. Anything I can do to increase engagement is a win in my class.

You might like my story: hubby and I decided to have our date at the picnic table; the weather was great. We sat there enjoying the view, when he turned to me and said, wow you have a lot more gray in your hair now. :p The next week: wow you have lots more wrinkles now. No more sunshine dates!

Old enough to remember Richard Nixon being found out by the watchdog press, I have great respect for the freedom of the press and journalists who bravely say what needs to be said. I would have more respect for national press if they could admit their mistakes, editorializing and biases.

I stand with honoring this noble man, who received multiple awards in addition to his well-deserved Medal of honor. I don't know who pulled this despicable, disgusting stunt. I hope the DoD and the White House immediately clarify and rectify. www.military.com/history/high...

I'm just a baby with Java, however I agree that AI is an incredible tool that has changed computer programming. I admit that I love manuals, but as the models are improving it's wonderful to be able to find exactly what you want. #Java #EduSky #coding #CSTAmd

There's a big difference between censorship and not supporting something. Local drug stores stopped selling p*** and cigarettes. Nobody's banning anything or censoring anything, they just are deciding not to sell it. By definition, you support $$$ the things you want to see more of.

Well down here we have been told that Joe Biden just had a cold for so long, that credibility and reliability are all up to personal judgment at this point. Politics has become a game of optics and lies, but I'm afraid I'm just catching on to the way that it always seems to have been.

Well I'm not sure that closing markets to the US is in the interest of Canada but you guys should make up your own minds. No way it's 5%. I would never use the tactics that Donald Trump uses. Let's see if he can broker a peace in Ukraine. Let's see if he can find agreements with other nations.

Thanks for the reply. I think you're saying a lot of things that are being sold to the USA could be sold to someone else. Reasonable. Few people understand that Donald Trump runs a "stir the pot up"method of conversation. Hoping for quick resolution/deal/whatever.
comment in response to post
Since they are percentages (not dollars,) whatever your country buys, as a percent, we have a lower rate of sales to Canada. At least that's the way the charts read to me. Thanks for engaging in the conversation with me.
comment in response to post
I'm not much for politics on Blue sky. However, I am curious. Canada sells things to the USA at a 25% greater rate than they purchase things from the USA. The World Bank info shows your next highest sales location is at 3%. I don't enjoy the fussing. But it's hard to ignore the numbers.

Access to AI by my students has caused me to reevaluate written projects to be sure they include personal experience and opinion. My own access to AI has helped me create more clear written instructions, and to not have to make keys for everything. ;) #tlap

And this belief, that even those that we disagree with or find downright distasteful, are still human beings with whom we can work and have community, is the spinal column of democracy. Democracy also dies when people do not respect one another.

I have been talking with some educators and friends of educators. It seems to me that we need to disconnect feelings about local curriculum and federal mandates from how we feel about teachers. I don't think the teachers are the bad guys, and I think most people feel that way.

#RPGMaker is a software program you can buy which allows you to create role-playing games. To add special features, you have to learn an object oriented language similar to Ruby. We had 11-year-olds learning to use it. It's a fantastic way to teach.
