6 minutes until the ALA Youth Media Awards, the only awards I look forward to all year. So exciting! And a reminder there are so many excellent and enjoyable books that don’t win book awards and kids (and adults) should be able to read widely for pleasure.

Some of my HS students are struggling to finish choice books. Do you have any lesson ideas for teaching HS students about reading stamina & book selection? Welp. Apple snuck something dirty in our phones last night. Settings > Apps > (pick an app) > Siri > Learn From this App TOGGLE OFF. You have to go through each app. My garage app, my BANKING APPS, others had that turned on automatically. 😡

Library win today: a student who is doing an extensive research project was convinced about a piece of misinformation last month. Today he told me he'd been wrong. I asked what changed his mind and he said "reading scholarly sources versus people's unreliable websites." Let him carry this forward!

Yes, this! My challenge to my future self is to figure out how to balance staying informed over the next 4 years without feeling the outrage/fatigue/despair over every piece of chaos that will be thrown at us. There will be so much chaos and I just can't fall for it all again.
