Which makes the way he ended all the sadder. He was great without PED.

It was amazing for everyone - players, parents, coaches. The one thing that made me sad: How overly grateful his parents were that he was accepted. I mean, I'm sure they'd learned the hard way that it's not always the case, but you shouldn't have to be thrilled your kid's being treated with dignity.

I'm really glad nobody told the autistic kid on my youngest son's Little League team almost a decade ago that he wasn't supposed to be playing. BOTH dugouts cheered when this kid got a hit - it was an amazing experience for him and his teammates.

Exactly. People don't realize that the pitching quality in AAA means hitting success doesn't always scale. Remember that 1st baseman last year - name escapes me, but the big guy who has a Princeton grad? Amazing 3A stats, horrible in Cincy.

It's the same folks who still think of Hinds as that one hot week and not the hot mess of the rest of the season, except they ignored his record in AAA.

I believe the farmers in the Central Valley already want to turn it off.

If only someone had warned him about what happened to "look-alikes" after 9.11 - including some who didn't even look at all alike.

Additionally, there's the privilege of geographic proximity. He never had this treatment when he was younger because the nearest doctor who did it was a 5-hour round trip away. It wasn't until he left for college that he was within reasonable driving distance of a provider.

There's also some privilege involved in his treatment, which still isn't FDA approved for adults (probably because there's not as much money in it for providers.) I was able to figure out a way to afford this - around 3K up front PLUS payments for office visits along the way. Not every parent can.

True, so it's not quite two days.

Well, that kinda makes me sad that I have to wait two more days. 😂On the other hand, I'm also at that "nearing the end and want to slow walk so it lasts longer" point, because S2 will probably take about another year to release.

Paradise is AMAZING! I haven't watched the finale yet - just got caught up on the second-to-last last night, which really took things up a notch on an already excellent show.

Today's actually the most hillbilly he's ever been. Native of WVa, been gaslighted many times in my life by people insisting that I be properly "thankful" for their wonderful treatment. Spoiler alert: It was not wonderful.

My college senior is taking Presidential Politics this semester. I assume the professor is constantly re-writing the syllabus on the fly.

Put him in that same category as all the MAGA parents of college students who think eliminating the Education Department will make college more affordable. Silly rabbits! There's no money "coming back." It's all going into the collection plate for tax cuts for billionaires.

Wait. Conservatives "quit watching" sometime circa Kapernick protests. Wondering how they even know ... Or are they boycotting their own boycott and going to resume watching?

That's kind of a bad news, good new sitch. Because if he's re-seated, it would be very, very difficult for the Ethics Committee to continue to hide the report.

I suppose they can all pick tomatoes after all the ag workers are deported. I mean, who really cares about their standards of living, if their kids can go to college, if they have healthcare. And that's just one potential looming disaster.

Same. I'm at the point where nothing is too preposterous to believe. The DOGE duo has thrown out layoffs of 75% of the federal workforce - that's 1.7m people if we're talking nonDOD. That's a LOT of jobs for the private sector to absorb.

I'm progressive left, but my philosophy hasn't budged in decades. The country, though, has taken a hard shift right.

I was wondering about this just last night after the discussion about Zela on another platform. It seems like a situation where a charter school could swoop in. Totally unfamiliar with WVa charter school law, though, and how much public funding one might get.

It's the exact same thing that happened four years ago, when they suddenly realized that changes to the ACA would mean they could lose their insurance plan. 🤦♀️Evidently leopards didn't eat enough of their faces the first time.

That's a really interesting number, because, from what I'm seeing, the entire VA healthcare budget is $125B. So, he plans to spend $5b?

The only thing I'm getting out of it is the military shouldn't repair (checks notes) engines, transmissions or tank treads. I'm lost on the rest of it, though.

And they twist it to say he's now in favor of "personal choice," but as head of the agency, I could also see a successful push to end vax coverage for Medicare/Medicaid - and it really takes away your personal choice if you can't afford to pay for the vax on your own.
