So we’re in the redux McCarthyism era under Truman (now Trump) that required all federal civil-service employees be screened for "loyalty” (E.O. 9835 in 1947) sliding backwards toward 1930s USSR Stalin’s Purges where workers had to constantly prove their usefulness or risk dismissal or *death*.

Discussing Bluesky migration in terms of liberal flight misses the simple fact that most people use social media for fun not influence and this platform, unlike X and cruddified Facebook, doesn’t feel like you’re wading through shit to reach your friends. It’s not that deep.
