If you got in on Mayne Island then it must be a Madrona. Their bark color can range anywhere from yellow to rusty-brown or grey, and tends to get darker as the wood dries. AFAIK there are only 2 Arbutus tree species that would be commonly found in the west- Madrona and Strawberry tree.

The Madrone tree's botanical name is Arbutus menziesii. You don't often see Madrona wood on the market, it's very hard and heavy wood, but really beautiful when finished, and makes excellent firewood. There's also a smaller ornamental tree called Strawberry Tree, or Arbutus unedo.

Wisdom Panel predicts Louie's adult weight will be between 64 and 101 lbs, yikes #dogsofbluesky

They look alike but Louie's already 10 lbs bigger than her. We're going to try to arrange a play date next weekend...

Last week my wife tried putting all his toys in a wicker basket. A nice thought, but it took less than a minute for Louie to drag the entire basket into his bed and dump it out, then chew the basket's handle to shreds. #dogsofbluesky

Cracks me up that you even need to put whiskey on a list... don't you have it tattooed on the back of your hand? And hey, isn't it spelled whisky there?

And whose idiot idea was it in the first place to name a fort after Braxton Bragg, one of the absolute worst generals this country has ever turned out. We can only be thankful he was on the Confederate side... if he was with the Union we very well might have lost the war.

I kind of like this fuzzy soft-focus effect you get from shooting with a cheap Kyocera flip-phone πŸ˜…

He's at about 92% with the housebreaking now...πŸ™„

I know, I don't like him slipping like that, I usually try to steer him outdoors when he zooms. We normally have carpets all over the floor, but Louie pooped and/or peed on all of them. I hosed them off, dried them, rolled them up, and once he's 100% housebroken we'll get them cleaned & put back. Ug

LOL- seriously that whole screen door needs to be replaced, the hinges got trashed in a windstorm last month. We're waiting to see how big Louie gets before we buy another door, but he's growing so fast...

I know this makes me kind of a freak, but I confess that I have less-than-zero interest in pretty much all organized team sports. I'll still be here for the arty bollocks photos & shit tho 😁 and dogs, we always need more dogs plz.

He kind of looks like a cow too- maybe we should have named him Bessie.

Look close at the 4th picture- his mouth is full of grass... he rolls back and forth eating huge mouthfuls of it. πŸ™„
