I did some of this years ago in the local fishwrap. I submitted cold and made no money, but an excellent editor there made me better at the format. If I knew how to get paid, I'd do it more.

That's a spicy mealball-a.

An absolute cracker? Sounds like a lot of my family tree.

Our Reichstag fire is going to be something stupid like a Tesla dealership in Albuquerque going up in flames, isn't it. The times are just that dumb.

So much this. And we need, as I have said before, to normalize asking when a "DEI hire" is replaced by a white male with "merit," whether that person got the job by dint of the color of his skin. EVERY TIME.

It's crazy to those of us of a certain age. When my best friend moved from Virginia to Tennessee in the early 80s we got to call for like 20 minutes on Sunday evening alternating weeks because of the long-distance charges. Or when my mom worked across Hampton Roads Harbor from where we lived.

Waiting for policy failure @mcuban.bsky.social's galaxy-brain take on why this is smart and good.

You know what, it wouldn't require everyone every time. Like any operant conditioning it needs to happen frequently enough that he expects it COULD happen every time.

Memo to Democrats: If EVERY ONE of you would do what Janet Mills did yesterday EVERY TIME, Trump would unravel entirely. He relies on you being bullied. Refuse to be.

Harder to name one that DOESN'T.

Normalize asking if white people got their high-ranking positions because of their skin color the same way bigots like Hegseth do with non-whites.

Any news organization that isn't standing with the AP should be assumed to be in the tank for Trump.

Suddenly I want to watch "The Last Temptation of Christ." Willem is definitely the best white Jesus.

Policy failure Mark Cuban has "thoughts" on extorting mineral rights from Ukraine. They're about what you'd expect. Just a gentle reminder that there are no good billionaires. Only less bad ones.

Memo to Congressional democrats: Do things like this. No more fucking book tours until the crisis is over. Talking to you @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social

The speed with which institutions are capitulating suggests that they were looking for reasons to do things like this beforehand. Remember who acts quickly and treat them accordingly when the pendulum swings back.

Inconceivable!

Trigon, eh?

This manages the neat trick of dirty and oddly wholesome all at once. Enjoy!

This was important when he posted it at the Other Place and is maybe even more so now.

In the next cycle of Bond movies, 007 will be trying to stop a billionaire oligarch who, deep down, really wants to make the world a better place but who is tragically misunderstood. Expect Bond to be won over to his side.

Terrific book.

Holy shit, y'all. Drop everything. Chapter II of Watchmen just dropped on Max. This is an animated adaptation of the comic and Chapter I was outstanding.
