A note from Ingo, in response to D. Hansen, on 15 May, was that he would first look to target the 6.16 merge window. We’ll see how that goes. Thus, will 6.15 be the last i486 kernel as 3.7 was the last i386?

I was wrong here. Mingo’s WIP.x86 code, updated a week ago in his git tree, does not appear to be merged into 6.15 rc. This doubles down on tsc and cx8, which leaves non-i586 behind (including some clones). Perhaps this will be seen in 6.16 or 6.17. For fun, I’ll post a Linux build for 486 folk.

I look forward to 7 of 9 inspiring a good weekend. It never gets old and hopefully is automated. Now, writing “long name Steve guy” is longer than the actual handle. Just saying. :)

This article got it right. The only bummer is that good changes went into early 6.15 for i486 support that was tested. They’re in the stable patch trees now, but 6.14 mainline is a bit more raw for i486. Good enough perhaps. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...

There was discussion from Thursday to today about whether to go that far, but Torvalds has indicated there's no reason for dropping Pentium for the sake of Pentium Pro's CMOV and the decision ends with TSC and CMPXCHG8B/CX8 support remaining.

There's lots of evaluations online in this respect that do better than I can do. Hasboro has claimed that 5.1 changes are intended to be compatible in a way that OGL 1.0a books (e.g. Dragonlance, Wildemount) can be adapted, but I'm not convinced this is clean. 5.1 or 5.2 is a break from 5.0.

Sophia died (on the seat) over a year ago. Pippa (on the headrest) died today.

A notable change I noticed today was the release of SRD 5.2, and the removal of the OGL in favor of only the Creative Commons license. The effect is they can't modify the OGL retroactively (I question whether they legally could anyway), but it removes SRD 5.0 compatibility (i.e. D&D 2014).

It’s the point where you start to realize what you’re doing, on occasion, before sensei explains it.

Looks like poutine with split pea. The split pea looks deluxe. This is classic Irish food and very good.

Add to this list, does it come from a long standing social media account, or website domain? Scams are typically from new accounts and registrations.

Bluesky is the only social media I choose for its own sake. I’m trying to reduce the footprint elsewhere, and less news. I’ve been reading more books, working on software and writing projects off-internet, and spending around people time. I’ve also started jogging again. It’s good to get outside.

Observed in Slackware land, going back to pre-9.0 i386 build days: starting with Java was a requirement for a P6 build. This became more prevalent with Firefox builds, which along with an increasing number of packages, now require a Pentium 4 minimum.

Trump and Vance struck me like petulant children guarding a playground spot against one of the respected soccer players of the school, when he’s taking a break from a game and needing a place of respite. Zelensky is better off without the deal.

It’s pretty much overt now, isn’t it? That was written over a decade ago…

Add covert sexism to that.
