Not any of those genres, but Born a Crime by Trevor Noah is one of the most enjoyable listens I have done on a long drive - his humor and accents bring it to life in a way that no printed book could and it's a great tale.

I hope she gets to go to other people’s spas for the rest of her life. That’s enough to never work again if you’re careful with it.

No. I think he had passed the inner crisis and was ready to face the outer one.

Yeah - I went back to watch that Season 1 scene to see if the exact language was used. Wasn’t, but would have been tragipoetic if it had.

Anyone who hasn’t watched it won’t scroll, so go for it in this thread.

Because it was his chance to try alcohol as d pretend it was a mistake. Teen boy logic.

I completely agree - I'm supposed to be actively pitching my near-future upmarket fiction with grounded speculative elements about climate change - but how are the elements grounded when everything I knew about how rational people react to climate change was upended in the last election?

Hit the same problem today

Did you ever see Fall of the House of Usher? Bloody, but oh, so good. Well written and when you realize who they are skewering...

It's what's called a "bonding open" in the course I did (recommended if you are new to querying): getabookdeal101.com/chf25-L/
comment in response to post
BTW, I found this course helpful for refining my query: getabookdeal101.com/chf25-L/ V cheap and starts again soon.

I wouldn't call it a personal note, but I always start with why I am reaching out to them. "Because you represented XXX" or "Because you are looking for YYY"

In one, they sever memories from worklife, in the other, they sever souls from ethics.

I eased into it - straight from 1 to 2 would make most brains hurt.

I find if I play audiobooks at 1.5 - 2.25X speed (depends on narrator), the flow of info is fast enough my brain doesn't wander off and start creating a shopping list. Work your way up but it quickly sounds normal.

Such a prescient book...

So far this year, whiskey and tears have been winning out for me - blood of enemies not so much, editing, not at all. #writinglife

I’m about to buy two (prob will tell me the same but praise my husband for falling asleep in 3 seconds every night) - do you have any of the discount codes left?

Speed wouldn't matter at all if I could go away and come back later in the day and have everything folded and sorted.

Oh well. There's nothing that can be done, so accept your fate.

Oooh - I loved that precise, petite clicking when winding a watch - core fingertip-memory evoked.

Thanks! I'll take a break and, come January, keep at it so that one day, others can read the book I just finished...
