Love my Kobo. Great for taking library books on the road when I'm away working.

I mean, if they've got a little extra money to spend, there are plenty of unhoused people in Manitoba for whom a fraction of that would make a huge difference.

It's not just you😊

That one was interesting, for sure. There are some crazy people out there. I mean, why would you think it's a good idea to suggest a couple should have a DNA test. That's a punch in the nose right there😂

The only good thing Harper ever did IMO.
comment in response to post
Yep. First thing that I noticed.

Exactly. The Conservatives already have that rule. Some in the media like to make it about Carney specifically. Very irritating.
comment in response to post
Yep. I feel the same way.

...or didn't bother to vote at all

Looks like I'm going to be pretty busy learning about Aussie history!

This looks promising...and I can get it in Canada, so I'm definitely gonna check it out.

Yes you are right on that point, and I firmly believe women generally make better leaders. We just need to be very careful. A lot of people voted for Thatcher because she was a woman.
comment in response to post
...to be clear, I think gender is irrelevant. It's the individual that matters. Wab Kinew is one of the best leaders I've had. I would really love to see a woman become PM...as long as it is the right woman.

I grew up in Thatcher's Britain. Maggie was by far the worst leader I have ever had - and I lived through the Harper years!. Every time I see Danielle Smith in action, I am reminded of dear old Mags *shudders*.

He's got the cadence of PP's voice down. Very good!

This is incorrect. The CPC candidate won by 12 votes.

I am really enjoying this little Australian history lesson. Thanks! I spend most of the summer on the road and I love listening to history podcasts. Any recommendations for Aussie history?

I honestly think Chris d'Entremont does a great job and the numbers work out better that way.

😂 A wise compromise.

Thanks for this explanation. I've always wondered why Canberra was the capital.

Yes. Amazon orders go to our post office too. Though I'm with you. We don't order from Amazon either.

Lol. My parents left me waiting in the car when I was a kid (I'm Gen X, that's just how it was) and I decided to try out that fingerprint scanner. Probably the worst burn I've ever had. My fingerprints are all weird on that finger to this day 40+ years later!

Also, most rural areas - even in the south - where we can't rely on last-mile couriers.

I don't blame you. I have clients from AB who love DS. I cannot imagine having to live around them! People like you are fighting the good fight against these separatist weirdos & I'm here for that energy. Same with Americans who are fighting MAGA. I want to show my support. It's just how I roll🤷

And that is perfectly legitimate. You are as entitled to your opinion as I am to mine, as you are making clear. I don't profess to speak for you, you can do that for yourself, as you are demonstrating. We all have a voice here, no?
comment in response to post
I think many Canadians want to make it very clear that we're not interested in being swallowed up by the US, on any terms. Some are being rude and aggressive and I apologize for that. Those of you fighting the fascism, many of us have your backs...from the safety of a sovereign Canada though!

Very nice. You've just sent me down a Grapes of Wrath rabbit hole. Totally changed my mood for the better so thanks for that. You never know when something you do might change someone's day!

Agree on both counts.

They did what?! The Big Dipper is my go to when I'm on the road all summer. This is terrible news!

Excellent piece. Thank you. I agree, uncontested nominations are not good for the democratic process

Personally, I'd like to see something but I can understand why they're not tabling one right now. I will reserve judgement.

I have noticed this. It's annoying, to say the least. Good faith criticism should not be discouraged, in my opinion. We have become a very tribal society. It makes it very difficult to get anything achieved when politicians are encouraged to score points off each other rather than working together.

Fair point. There are definitely more worthy issues to be concerned about.

Hmm..."rivers of blood" and all that.

Very interesting. Thank you.

We have plenty of meat here. No-one is in a hurry to buy American beef, complete with all the added hormones

It's wild to me that people think Carney should be throwing hay makers in the oval office. What I do think voters are going to be watching for is upholding the promise of reducing our reliance on this volatile neighbour. He can manage Trump while also courting new opportunities.

Oh.. I definitely don't hate the US. Your current administration, on the other hand, seems to be going out of its way to turn friends into adversaries. It hurts us all and I really think that is the goal.

I don't want to get disappeared so I'll stay safely this side of the 49th. I wasn't born in Canada and I don't want to end up in El Salvador...or Libya...or Rwanda. I also don't buy US-made due to the 51st state BS. If I wanted to be American, I'd have emigrated there - no offence, US neighbours.

I read an op-ed about this. Terrifying.

I can imagine! We have some Western separatists in our community. I can only imagine what it must be like in Alberta, where they walk amongst you. I sincerely sympathize with all the same Albertans out there.

Ewww! Sorry...childish but I had to let that out.

Couldn't agree more. Well...that and consequences for blatantly lying.
