“The goal is not to grow this system (of shelters),” Kotek told the House Committee on Housing and Homelessness. “Shelter is not the goal. Rehousing is the goal.” But Kotek said safe, available shelter is a necessary portion of her larger plan. More from @lmonghughes.bsky.social 👇

The City of Portland has long argued Zenith Energy's land use credential is a simple administrative decision. Environmental advocates today sued the city, arguing state law requires a "quasi-judicial" process, meaning the public has sufficient notice and opportunity to comment.

How government leaders responded to Musk’s email

The DOJ doesn’t know the answer to who is legally running DOGE. They say it’s not Musk. But they can’t name anyone else. That’s not a good sign.

People who rent often have to pay hundreds of dollars in fees and deposits to secure a place, and when they leave, they might not get any money back. Some Democratic lawmakers would like to cut those costs. @jmshumway.bsky.social has the details. oregoncapitalchronicle.com/2025/02/24/o...

The guidance for how to deal with Musk’s 5 bullets email (deadline 11:59pm tonight) is all over the place. HHS employees have received multiple conflicting emails from leadership. DOJ and State said don’t reply. SSA, GSA, Treasury, FDIC, VA were told to respond. Total mess.

NEW — The National Treasury Employees Union Chapter 282 just emailed its ~8,000 employee members strongly advising them NOT to reply to the “What did you do last week?” email from OPM/Musk.

All federal workers will shortly receive an email asking what they did last week — and that if employees fail to respond, it will be taken as a resignation, Elon Musk wrote in a post on X Saturday.

“They’re trying to actually not make the government more efficient, but disrupt the government and disrupt citizen services that the American people need in order to conduct their daily lives,” she said.

Most journalists worth their salt I know have left Twitter. It's never been a great engagement tool, and the value as far as sourcing has fallen off a cliff. The actual reason people stay, fmpov: People have addictions and are afraid to leave substantial followings.

At this point, journalists have to seriously consider not using Twitter anymore, in my opinion. (I stopped tweeting in November, for what it's worth.) I get why many are still over there -- but we all have to question why we are helping a platform that actively demonizes and censors us.

The NewsGuild-CWA and several Guild locals joined the Society of Professional Journalists (@spj-posts.bsky.social) in condemning recent government attacks on a free press. The White House must lift its ban on @apnews.com and stop obstructing journalists from reporting news to the American people.
