Just a guy. A dad. A husband. Employee and employer. Moderate (I know, a bad word in '25) Identity politics bad. Golden rule good. Wish we could be united. As one. As Americans. Tired of the finger pointing and name calling. Our kids deserve better.

Well look at that! Common ground.
I too consider myself a centrist although I do lean right on most things and most of the kids here call me an extremist. As I have aged, I do find myself becoming more conservative so I force myself to listen to the other side to keep my perspective rounded.

It's not presuming to observe something with my eyes.
I know everyone is tribal and defensive so I'm not expecting any concessions but it's crazy how dug in some democrats get.
It's like this instinct to protect your views even though common sense offers a really plausible alternative

Mark,
Why are you supporting irresponsible or redundant tax payer $$$ spending?
If you could streamline efficiencies in your companies, you would do that.
Why is the gov't any different? Just because they are democrats?

The asylum process was bastardized in a way that no one could have expected.
Biden finally started cracking down on the border when it became election time but America had already seen the deluge of fraudulent asylees for 3.5 years. 12 million by some estimates although we'll never really know

Listen, set aside your ideology. Just look objectively.
Crime in cities that received a surge of migrants (from all countries so this isn't a race issue) has skyrocketed.
Low income tax payers are furious because immigrants are getting $$$ and they are not. See Chicago. The mutiny there is nuts.

Well, judging by how America voted it would tell me that people are pulling away from liberal polices that went too far.
I'm not a Trump fan but he did grown every demo except the rich and overly educated.
Having 3 degrees in gender studies does not make you smart. The only absolute there is debt
comment in response to

Oh my gosh, you honestly think more immigrants came and stayed under Trump? That is literally the opposite of what happened. Trump had remain in Mexico that Biden abolished on day 1
As for women's rights, it's up to the states and the people to decide. That includes women so there are no victims here
comment in response to

Did I say any of that?
Did I accuse any immigrant of anything?
You are equating crime to immigrants, not me.
That's not a gotcha or a technicality.
I just never said or intimated that

So you support biological males pulling out their junk next to your 13 yr old daughter in a bathroom?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure how you can say that me objecting to that is extreme.
Why do we people support a policy that makes .05% feel validated but infuriates every girl dad in America?
comment in response to

I'd love to see more transparency
It's our money and we should be able to vote on how it is spent.
The bureaucrats can F off and all of these NGO's with these stupid pet projects that do not help anyone can go away for good.

True and I agree.
I think though that tough decisions need to be made.
Much like the climate junkies are always screaming about fossil fuels and how we need to take drastic action to fix the planet.
Same goes with our deficit and debt.
Can't be a hypocrite if you think both are big problems
comment in response to

How is what I said finger pointing or name calling?
I simply stated a fact.
Finger pointing would be me saying that all of our ills are caused by the democrats.
I don't necessarily believe that but that's what I am against. That is not helpful discourse.

If the leanings of this echo chamber are far left to farther left then yes, I will most likely be seen as a contrarian.
Justifiably so.
I'm old enough to remember Bill Clinton's term. I voted for him and his wife.
That was when the party left me. Shit started getting nuts at that point
comment in response to

A moderate is now termed an extremist.
The goal posts were moved by the left.
A secure border used to be something democrats cared about. Safe streets? Same thing. Hard work instead of handouts? That was a dem thing.
Now all of these things are racist, xenophobic or some other dumb shit
comment in response to

When someone already suffers from a condition of thinking they're always right, getting validation from a peer group that shares the same arrogant affliction is not helpful or conducive to mending the cavernous differences the two parties have
I am always open to listening. Reciprocity would be nice
comment in response to

I know facts are misinterpreted as "talking points" as this allows the orthodoxy of "I am always righteous and morally superior" to metastasize.
I'll take a phrase from your verncaular.
My "lived experience" is this is how the common democrat acts nowadays. Intolerant, arrogant and divisive.
comment in response to

Propaganda?
Everything that I said has happened to me or I have seen it a million times.
The democrat party has become this group of know it all loudmouths who are so intolerant.
No opposing opinion is allowed. If you say we need a strong border, you are a xenophobe.
It's become a joke
comment in response to

This is embarrassing. These people are being laughed at and democrats look pathetic, rudderless, disorganized and without one voice of common sense.
I have never seen a party so disjointed

Mark,
You are either lying or willfully ignorant.
The extremists on this app attack anyone who expresses a moderate view. They're called fascist or some other bullshit.
God forbid you want responsible spending habits. Or a secure border. Or boys in boys bathrooms.
Any of those trigger insanity
comment in response to
post
No, not necessarily. Tax policy is not related to irresponsible spending and fraud.
What will happen though is our deficits will decrease as will our debt causing us to get healthier as a nation.
I would think we could all agree that we should only spend tax payer $$$ on shit that matters.
comment in response to

I do not mean to be rude. I think you are the byproduct of a hyper partisan media that still can't figure out how they lost in November.
Democrats say dumb shit like "we cannot focus on the fact that we are right, we need to change our message)
It's that arrogance that pushed people away
comment in response to

Sure, except for the fact that they're not hiding anything.
If you stop watching MSNBC on loop then you'll see all of this info is really easy to find
The MSM has done a masterful job of scaring people and making Elon look like he gives a shit about your SS number
The absurdity of that is hilarious
comment in response to

Why would this happen?
There is not data to support anything like this would ever happen.
comment in response to

The American tax payer deserves more than any union.
If you suck at your job, if your job is redundant, if you work for some partisan political NGO, or whatever---you gotta go
All of this trimming is designed of this country to become lean and mean and get us out of debt.
Our kids deserve better
comment in response to

I think anyone with their head screwed on straight would rather all of that $$$ go back to the private sector where productivity actually matters and individual families benefit.
F the bloated gov't.
We need to get everyone of its teat, stop the handouts and get lean and mean.
comment in response to

Listen, the a-holes in DC, the bureucrats and all of the NGO's have bent the tax payers over for decades if not longer.
Now the adults have to make some tough decisions.
I do not give a shit about some NGO losing grant money.
The country needs a colonoscopy and this is what we're getting

This is the position of an emotionally unstable follower who swallows whatever MSNBC tells them. Do you let others run your entire life?
There are a number of democrats who aren't complete f-ing boobs who are saying they need to sit down with DOGE and root out the fraud
But sure, your point is real.
comment in response to

Congress is part of the problem! The progressive spending machine is out of control!
All of these dems are crying about process instead of actually getting onboard with helping find this fraud. They look so foolish.
F the process for now. We need to be lean and mean.
Cut out all of the BS.
comment in response to

Ok, whatever you say.
Too bad DOGE is being transparent so they can show the fraud, waste and duplicate spending.
Smart trumps stupid every time and those kids who are working with Elon are some of the smartest in the world so I'll take their findings any day over a gravy train loving politician
comment in response to

Recessions do not come from cutting out wasteful spending.
This is a necessary step to getting this country healthy long term.
Difficult decision needs to be made and redundant gov't employees is a great place to start.
I do not know anyone with any common sense that says bigger gov't is good.

It's hilarious to me that when a democrat does not like someone else's opinion they either call them a fascist, Nazi sympathizer or a bot.
It's like their minds are so limited that they can't see beyond their little world of TDS and Elon hate.

I'll take a hacker at this point. Anything is better than what we've had.
They've found SS benefits paid to dead people.
We've found silly amounts of $$$ sent to foreign governments for insane programs.
The redundancies in these agencies is mind blowing.
I'm all for what they're doing

Easy tiger. Just sit back and wait.
As they win court challenge after court challenge they'll dive deeper and find more democrat fueled over spending, abuse and fraud. It's only a matter of time....
The left cannot stop this freight train.
Freight train vs a gravy train.

Democrats complaining about eliminating waste and fraud is a very bad look.
If it's 8 billion or 8 hundred. Let's get rid of all the BS spending.
That is the position of the conservatives yet the dems want to keep the gravy trains rolling.
Political suicide

This is the type of shit that makes me laugh. The absolute lunacy of the dumb dumbs on the left is circus with its absurd theater but it's also pathetic and sad.
No one alive is remotely close to a Nazi yet these buffoons keep saying shit that makes me wonder if they need clinical help

For the record, I'm not even a fan of T's. I think he's an egomaniac. I do not identify with the far right. I think they are crazy too.
I was once a democrat. Voted for Obama and Hillary. It just became too much identity politics, race BS, boys in G's bathrooms, border overrun etc.

First, the word felon is another term adopted as one that you think an independent thinker cares about. They don't. That is why they elected him.
That as a political persecution. There is not another human being on the planet that would have had a misdemeanor supercharged into a felony.

Your implication was that I didn't know storming the capitol was bad.
Either speak directly or not at all. The word games are childish

Where did I defend it?
Please point out my words, not someone else's
I did say that some were politically targeted and that much is obvious but anyone who was violent that day should be in jail.

The table is wide open. That's my point. Trump brought is former democrats to work with him
If the left would stop crying and get to work, we could accomplish anything.
What I really believe is the bureaucrats are worried about the gravy train ending and this is the panic you see.

In my view, the average democrat is incapable of independent thought. This is why they all talk the same. Hence the follower tag.
"You're a fascist" --How many times do we hear this term despite most of them not being able to use the word in a sentence or be able to define it.

Both sides lie. All day, every day.
That said, these theatrical performances are being used to elicit fear.
The sheep have been told Trump's the devil so regardless of any good he might do they need to maintain the narrative so they can prevent someone from actually finding out the truth
