Seems like a fair and logical conclusion, Trump is busy making war on his own people to distract from the Epstein files. Western Europe’s economy dwarfs that of Russia, we have plenty to fight off the Russians, if we have the will.

Clearly they have the unbelievably narrow room for manoeuvre as there is no money. Everything else is window dressing.

Organised Labour is the key to the fight back, unions need to be organising walk outs and strikes, hit them in the pocket.

The way it’s going Ukraine will be providing peacekeepers to the US!

Let’s send him to the front line too!

I agree it’s a disgrace but it’s been coming a long time. The US is an incredibly well armed and violent society (always has been) so nobody should be surprised by this.

I’m not sure, the US seems to have been completely radicalised in the past ten or so years. Everybody is choosing a side now. Things look grim, Putin did his work well.

Trump is the super-Wallace that was foretold by Norman Mailer.

Get the feeling that we are entering the next phase of the authoritarian takeover plan. People need to get ready if they want to defend their democratic freedoms.

Dumb question, but I am not from the US, if they are undocumented how are the taxes collected? Don’t you need is such as a social security number to be registered for taxes?

Don’t think we ever go back; old tribal loyalties have gone, voters much more transactional. Mainstream parties paying the price for austerity and pauperising the working class/ lower middle income voters.

She is the most vacuous weathervane of a politician I have ever seen. Just reacting to ever mad idea that orange moron spouts in Washington. Pathetic.

Cementing the idea that Reform is essentially an English nationalist party.

Don’t think Germany is out of step with other Western nations. The public want someone else to do all the fighting.
comment in response to post
Reality is there is v little room for manoeuvre for any Uk Chancellor. The state of public finances dictate an extremely narrow range of decision making.

Mandy deploying all his Saruman like qualities to remind the orange idiot how much he loves UK (and how the UK really loves him back).

He is very naive for the “worlds smartest man”! Trump has always seen the Federal budget as a slot machine stuck on pay out.
comment in response to post
The stuff about fare dodging is actually smart politics, tube travel is expensive and the majority who pay really resent the freeloaders.

We get to remove govts that screw up, can they do that in Russia, China or North Korea? So yes.
comment in response to post
If you want to protect our democratic way of life and be there to help our friends and neighbours such as the Scandi and Baltic nations we need to spend the money. Western Europe has relied on the US for too long and needs to stand up for itself again.

We have to do things differently. Current welfare state is based on a model 80 years old but it’s impossible to challenge it. The country is slowly going bankrupt and every government is like Mr Micawber hoping that “something will turn up”.

Same as US, there is a huge number of voters who have been discarded by mainstream parties. They have no job security, live on breadline and worry about their kids futures. They see no prospects in mainstream political parties so it’s easy to think fuck it I’ll vote Reform or MAGA.

Not sure what 3m Singaporeans can do vs 1.2bn Chinese!

Mate, thanks for the mental image of Bozo spraying the nation while I was having breakfast.

He gets very favourable coverage, avoiding the scrutiny of the other main parties. Needs to change and fast.

The early 20th century produced such titanic figures, our democratic leaders of today seem so small and inconsequential.
comment in response to post
I’ve given up on watching the news for this reason, the fact that there is an media industry that needs politics to be interesting every single day produces all this nonsense.

Have you started the countdown to Skynet becoming self aware?
comment in response to post
Naturally my post was not aimed specifically at you. Its an observation that this story would have caused outrage in mainstreet US in the 80s or 90s. Eg Clinton was damaged by the Gonzalez case. So sad that attitudes have changed so much now it barely causes a shrug amongst so many US citizens.
comment in response to post
More power to you, I still find it amazing and profoundly sad that the majority of US citizens are prepared to accept that a 4 year old child should be deported and left to die in the name of Strong Borders. Shameful.
comment in response to post
Sad to say, its trending that way. The politics of greed, anger and inhumanity are on the rise generally.
comment in response to post
Plus social media and tech development in general has massively increased the atomised society. The Right has been so far ahead in exploiting these trends to turn people against each other. Feeding out basest instincts.

View from the UK, what the hell has happened to the US? People have collectively lost their minds and humanity.

Sunak did Gazelles with a suit too, cringe worthy.

Oppose Musk and Tesla but try not to root for the country that churns out cheap cars made with slave labour.

It would be like Johnson’s on steroids, collapsing under its moronic stupidity and utter incompetence. There is something rotten in our democracy when such knuckle draggers are handed power.
comment in response to post
“Falling apart”, really? When you walk around the streets is it anarchy? Just life continuing as normal.

Quite a head in the sand piece, mainly critical of a politician for telling the truth about Japan’s fiscal nightmare for once. The country has been living beyond its means for years, not able to expand its working age tax base thru immigration. The finding out stage is coming!

Proving he is a classless POS.

What does he even mean? Johnson’s an irrelevant alcoholic looking more shop soiled by the day.

As a Brit, question is why don’t US consumers have same scepticism?

The gangs are organised criminals making huge profits from sending people on highly dangerous routes to the UK, why not smash them?

The Labour, Tory , Reform merger may be on!
comment in response to post
The country is basically bankrupt, taxes already sky high and nowhere near money to fix things. Unlike the 1970s there is no North Sea oil revenue to fix things this time.

Americans finding out what a bad idea it is not to update your countries operating manual for 240 years.

Deals for who?

Don’t they play out what happens when they make an empty threat and Putin calls their bluff? Are they just getting together on a train for a photo op?
comment in response to post
Massive disparity between what people need and how they vote. Sadly MAGA has done an amazing job of getting the turkeys to vote for Christmas.
