It is inaccurate to claim that Macron refused to appoint a left-wing prime minister; he had in fact proposed Bernard Cazeneuve, who was Prime Minister under François Hollande, but this was refused by the coalition!

It is regrettable that the traditional French left has formed a coalition with the far left dominated by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who wishes to reconsider the European treaties, thus leading to a possible exit from the European Union, and who is also in favor of a departure from NATO.
