Which wouldn't be no different to what other studios have started doing with David Fincher planning to using AI as part of his Se7en 4k remaster. But Fincher probably still had original footage to train the AI.
I don't think Hasbro has that. I think this is gonna be an AI filter. And I'm scared.

-have to be the case since Power Rangers spliced US footage with JP footage and the JP footage was using different camera lens and film. I have to assume that what they mean by gen AI is really using restorative AI from VHS to upscale from 1080p to 4K without risk of degradation.

Based on the entire production history, I don't think they have the master footage. At best they would have something as old as VHS tapes or DVD. If they do have some master footage over 30 years, that would bring up a ton of questions for the previous owners. Which would-

Exactly, but the problem stems from an underlying reason behind the hatedom: pushing a Sentai focused agenda. Not introducing a different interpretation of PR, but laying it out as superior to PR. That PR is lazy and Sentai is better and more put together. And that can come off as very toxic.

The hardcore fans are Sentai fans. And they do nothing but complain that Sentai is compared to PR. The fanbase has always been pedantic. But ever since Hasbro discontinued the LG, this fandom got beyond cooked. Simulcast will help, but the MMPR hatedom will always be forced and unnecessary.

If this fandom really cared, they would be putting all their energy towards getting Toei to simulcast to Amazon Prime or something. As for the movie, I'll believe when I see it from official sources and not gatekept via Patreon.

Let's just all assume that Power Rangers is always in talks in getting produce and just read the comics instead. Or ask Toei to start simulcasting their Sentai. Whichever works for y'all.
