every time i interact with sociologists of science, i'm fascinated by the level of depth they bring into their analyses. qualitative research is beyond my skillset but i so appreciate there's a group of skilled scholars who have mastery over these methods, whose insights i greatly benefit from.

Can't wait to immerse myself in great talks and heated discussions at this amazing interdisciplinary workshop organized by @ufeest.bsky.social for two days. #metasci #philsci #sts #histsci

Thank you to the hundreds of business leaders who are standing against the unconscionable attacks on our university system. They know that was is being destroyed is future American innovation and prosperity.

In next week's Jour Fixe, @devezer.bsky.social (University of Idaho) presents her work on "Claims about scientific rigour require rigour" www.rmz.hu-berlin.de.... Join us on Wednesday, 25.06.25, 11am online or in person in Berlin. @ibi-hu.bsky.social

during my visit, mom sometimes turned the tv on and no one can guess just how bizarre turkish tv is. hours-long programming full of empty talk. reality shows, game shows, series, news can go on endlessly, unedited. it's a slo-mo nightmare that mesmerizes the audience until they lose consciousness.

Would be hard to make complete sense of such metadata with respect to producing science (rigorous or otherwise) unless all referee reports and author responses for unpublished submissions are also published.

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders? There is no "scientific method".

Once again, after six years, I confirm that Istanbul airport still remains my favorite airport. Or rather, the only one I've been able to painlessly tolerate so far. It's spacious, bright, quiet, clean, and has amazing food. The lack of announcements takes away so much noise pollution.

At the airport, going back to Hannover. The secret to a successful family reunion is letting go. It took me two decades to find this wisdom but losing the illusion of control and embracing the flow is the secret. Simply let things happen to you and everything is beautiful 😍

with mom and sis (whose phone camera seems to be using some anti-aging filter no one asked for but i'm sure we'll survive)

Mom's sleeping the excitement and the exhaustion of cooking off so I made my own coffee this morning. With a little piece of double roasted Turkish delight on the side. This is a huge cup for Turkish coffee but it's the one I found. Caffeine gods, take me!

friends of 30 years met up by the bosphorus last night. everything has changed in istanbul in the last two decades, but this. the view and the friendship 💗 we were turned away by a cocktail bar because we weren't dressed up to their standards. even that made me feel like a college student again 😂

I am being fed something every moment I am awake. Last night after dinner I made it out of mom's house for a breather with sis. We went to a cafe/bar. The owner heard that I was visiting from the US after 6 years and made a whole spread of cheeses, fruits, nuts, olives, crackers, even candied

Slept like a log after the caffeine overload yesterday 🤷🏻‍♀️

PRECISELY. People should be getting this by now? This is the same reason fact-checking and pushback against lies matter. Your Trump loving uncle may not care but this is irrelevant. A polluted information space impacts the institutions we rely on, and that's why all this matters.

Changed my mind. Do not come to the rescue. I repeat. I do not need rescuing.
