This is great news. So many more places they can be recycled. Plus you if you have left over medication, you can also dispose of that at the same place (via pharmacy team).

Has anyone found any information about delirium in Learning disability?

It's 5 yrs today since lockdown started in England, but "We must never have lockdown again" is the wrong lesson. Lockdowns are terrible but so are deadly pandemics. Our choices 5 years ago were limited - we can & must do better in the future. Do read my post. open.substack.com/pub/christin...

Huge thank you to @eastmidsrailway.bsky.social staff at Derby, York and Scarborough stations for helping bro with #LearningDisabilities to travel on his own to visit family. #PassengerAssistance has been essential in him being to travel independently (delays and all) and me to get some respite.

What it’s like for a food scientist to hear misinformation about raw milk:

Pete Buttigieg breaks down DEI for everyday folks… “The opposite of diversity is uniformity. The opposite of equity is inequity. The opposite of inclusion is exclusion.” @petebuttigieg.bsky.social Our problem: too many value uniformity over inclusion and they’re the ones running the government. 🧵

Someone reminded me of a spreadsheet I compiled a few years ago asking people to share their A-Level choices, where they are in their careers now and any thoughts/advice for teens choosing their A-levels. The message is try not to stress! Please share (and add yours) docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

Drug shortages have been affecting people around the country but haven't really reached Westminster as a story. A big issue unlikely to go away any time soon - complex supply chains providing an ever greater number of drugs will always have vulnerabilities. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

👋🏻🏃🏻‍♀️I’m running the London Marathon to raise money for @northlondonhospice who cared so brilliantly for my very dear friend Laura who died last year. It’s a very special place & relies of donations to keep going. If you can help this cause, I’d be hugely grateful www.justgiving.com/page/beth-ri...

Our beautiful cat, Katniss, is missing! We've looked everywhere for her locally, plus have put up posters and local online adverts. We think she might have jumped in a car or van and ended up further afield. If you are in North London (NW5 and surrounds), please keep an eye out! details below.

Behind the headlines and the stigmatising language about disability benefits are real people - millions of them. People who are scared about what this news might mean for their day-to-day lives. 1/2

1/3 We know people with a learning disability are worried about what changes to disability benefits could mean for them.   Ismail Kaji, Parliamentary & Government Officer at Mencap, spoke to Andy Bell on 5 News.

Why can no journalist seem to get the facts right? It’s Personal Independence Payment, *singular*, abbreviated as PIP (not Pip). It’s an *in work benefit*, it’s not related to your earnings, so people don’t “come off PIP because they get a job”. This is basic stuff and not hard.

This has only been possible through NIH funding. Funding biomedical science through the NIH has been one of the greatest accomplishments of the United States of America for America, and for the world. We are ALL better for the work that passionate scientists funded by the NIH have been able to do.

Happy St Patrick’s Day ☘️

My own personal experience of depression - my mental health has been massively impacted by dealing with loss of a loved one and caring for a family member. The strain on social care and legal systems has contributed significantly to this, so improving mental health is not just a medical issue.

Delighted to give oral evidence to the Palliative Care Commission yesterday & meet Alison Penny (National Bereavement Alliance) & colleagues on the panel. Good luck to all the Commissioners pulling together the evidence. Written call open until 28/3: palliativecarecommission.uk/submit-writt...

Re-upping this short 🧵, as most people are not aware that Paget's disease of bone is probably a late measles complication

For this week's blog, Sunny wrote a rap about how it feels to be judged as a person with a learning disability - listen here... "So next time you judge, remember my face I'm breakin' barriers, leavin' my trace" www.dappleproject.com/post/8-judge...

Remembering Dunblane 29 years on the 16 children and their teacher are not forgotten.

While the government’s funding boost is a welcome first step, many hospices are facing a tough financial situation, like those in North Yorkshire. Hospices must be part of local funding decisions for long term sustainability. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

As I said to BBCBreakfast government *isn’t* proposing reform. It’s cuts. The DWP has a genuine plan for reform to help more people get support, healthcare & work when they can. Treasury is driving the opposite. Cruel & counterproductive cuts for short term savings.

🗣️ "We are very worried and appalled" Our Director of Policy, Research & Impact, Helen Barnard spoke to BBC Breakfast about the UK government's plans to cut vital disability support.

Bravo @libbysallnow.bsky.social Libby Sallnow: the gentle disruptor - The Lancet www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

I wonder if anyone making these kinds of statements has actually spent time with the people they are talking about? It also depends on what your “aspirations” look like. For many it’s getting through each week and that itself is a challenge.
